Alila v Anantara
There is no comparison really. I'll start with the Alila: Pros - room decor is stunning and beautifully set out. Luxurious touches. Food is on another level (and bear in mind it was all delivered to our room during these covid times). Service was incredible and they couldn't do enough for you. Activities all provided on an individual level and was great (we did the geology walk and stargazing session). Con: no pool to dip in as was closed (but they, too, are amazing). Anantara was dated, some faults which needed repair (tiling in pool was loose), food was nowhere near as good (but not terrible) bikes had seen better days with brakes not working well. However, having your own private pool in your garden villa was amazing and being able to walk right out of your bedroom into it was great. On the whole the Anantara was nice but I would say 4 star and the Alila another level at 5+ stars (if I could)
Did not worth of the money
Alila is suppose to be one of the best hotels in Oman. We dined there before and it was amazing. Some of our friends stayed there and they had an amazing experience. Unfortunately we are shocked by our experience this weekend. Yes we know there is Covid 19 situation going on, but if you can’t deliver perfect then just rather shut. We had a beautiful room with even more beautiful view. Very relaxing. The problem was the food. How many times can you get wrong for the one room service? Over cooked steak, but we asked for medium rare, burned pancakes, soggy hand cut fries, dry bolognase sauce the second day for kids( first day was delicious), old and dry croissants for the breakfast. And Alila served cappuccino from the machine!!!! Not even decent coffee. What is going on? Why you ask people to pay so much to stay in your resort and we can not even have a decent cup of coffee? There was also not much explanation what we can order from a la carte when we paid for half board. One person told us that we can order what we like, another that only 3 courses. We have also experienced a not very nice attitude from the staff towards one family by the swimming pool. Omani gentleman, not sure what his position is, but please the way he spoke to this family was not very nice. In front of other visitors. All I can say that we had enjoyed our views, fresh air and walks, but food was a massive disappointment. Also there is not possible to buy any snacks. Just not what you would expect from Alila in Jabal Akhdar.
Tour of Oman
What a treat high up in the mountains luxury plus. We travelled in a private group of 14 with 4 guides. This resort has the wow factor from the moment that you arrive:) I can tell you it was truly amazing. We stayed for 2 nights & would have liked more time to explore the surround. Do yourself a favour put it on your bucket list
I chose Oman for my 60th birthday trip, and we stayed at the Alila for the first 3 nights. It was a perfect spot for relaxation. We arrived to traditional Omani coffee, which was lovely. Our room was on the second floor in the main building at the end over the indoor pool. The room was large and very nice, with a balcony we used quite a bit. The shower and bath were nice, as well. Because there were fewer guests than usual (coronavirus cancellations), this location worked well for us (LOVED the views). We were fortunate that there were no children except one infant the last day we were there. I can see wanting to be in a different building if there were more children. The breakfast buffet was simply amazing, and they made the best avocado toast. At dinner, the tasting menu was a chance to taste different local dishes, and the a la carte menu was very good. Their cocktail menu is also fun. Definitely order the banana honey dessert! Note that children can only eat inside and are not allowed on the deck seating area. The pool is stunning and we loved the individual beds. They offer poolside service and there is a 5 page gin menu, too! Sunsets are breathtaking. The resort offers options for whatever activity level you want. We went to a kitchen demo, walked the butterfly trail, and went to an evening star gazing class. My husband also went on a geology outing. Did I mention this place is gorgeous??? I'd recommend to anyone who prefers casual luxury in a remote setting. Adored it!
Superb Hotel in breathtaking location
A beautiful building with astonishing views embraces you with a warm welcome. Good food served with skill, friendliness and skill. There is a good range of local experiences or just lounge by the infinity pool
