Beyond all expectations
How often does it happen that your presumed picture is outclassed by the real experience. This is what happened to me at the Alilia Jabal Akhdar hotel. Words, or pictures cannot describe the experience and how special you feel when being a guest here. We stayed here for 2 nights for our honeymoon in Oman and this forever will the highlight of our Oman- and all before hotel experiences. The service is so personal and not-played/acted. Our room (48) was a dream. Stargaizing option (for free) was so special as well. Food and drinks are top class and so is pricing:(:), but it was worth every penny. My only point of positive criticism would be around the poor seats in the inside restaurant. They are too low to the ground for long session diners. We arrived in the Chedi Muscat straight after being here and that almost felt like a 4-star comparison vs the Alila Jabal Akhdar. In our memories forever..
Perfect wilderness location
Its quite a trip for 2 1/2 hours from Muscat - the last hour on windy steep roads. However once you get there you are struck by the stillness and quiet - there is no noise, not just no human noise hardly any noise. The mountains are very rugged and the view spectacular. Sunset is quite memorable The staff were lovely, Venu in the bar was very helpful.The food was very good - the omani tasting menu - different each night was really tasty. The rooms are spacious and well appointed A final thing was we left our swimming costumes in the room and they arranged for them to be sent to our next hotel. Superb service
A hidden gem that should be the crown jewel of Omani resorts
Boasting spectacular mountain views and top-notch service. This Alila hotel defines luxury and hospitality. Juniper Restaurant is fantastic and guests enjoy free breakfast and dinner, which is beyond expectation. Room is comfortable and modern. A wide range of activities is also available to discover both nature and local culture of Green Mountain. Definitely an unforgettable experience.
This place is absolutly amazing, the best hotel we have ever stayed. The view is just stunning and the whole hotel is really beautiful, nice designed , our room was perfect. We definitely will come back sometime!
Firstly with the positives - the hotel main house, and the bedrooms are both visually stunning. Not a thing out of place and a great decor The view is out of this world, but you do have to go to the edge to see it and look down. Best views are from the yoga area. Otherwise you just see the tops of the mountains from the pool, etc All food we had was great, especially the breakfast. We arrived very late on the first day and they had kindly put some breads and mezze in the room, which was a great touch The massage was amazing and I highly recommend the edge treatments, overlooking the mountains. We booked a Jabal terrace room and on the website it says mountain view. However that isn’t the case and instead they are placed for the sun, so ours had a view of the main path and other rooms . There is a smaller sofa outside where you can see the mountains, but is shaded. We were very disappointed we paid all the extra money to upgrade, but didn’t get what we believe we had booked. And didn’t end up using the terrace, because who wants to look out into a path (see photo) We booked a driver from the hotel to pick us up from the airport. Our flight was meant to land at 8:40pm and we arrived early at 8:30 in the airport pick up area with no driver. We waited until 8:40 to call and they said they would call the driver. Nobody called me back, so I had to call again for an update - somebody eventually picked us up at 8:55. He had to stop off for the toilet and refreshments, so clearly hadn’t left enough time. Our room was not made up at 2pm, so I had to call to ask this to be done. We were at the pool all morning, so no reason why this wasn’t done. Also poor drinks service before dinner, there were many guests and only a few waiters, so we had to serve ourselves and get the menus, ask to order, ask to clear the prior persons drinks away, etc etc Upon check out we brought all of this to their attention and they offered to take the drinks off the bill - 9 OMR I explained this wouldn’t even cover our phone bill when we had to call from the airport several times. 20 mins of us explaining we weren’t happy and two different bills later they eventually agreed to take the airport transfer off - 90 OMR. Upon reviewing my bill later on I realised I had been over charged 10 OMR on the spa treatments and the same again for the return transfer, I contacted them by email and have been told this money will be with me in 14 days. Other areas that weren’t great - you can’t pre book a dinner table. we asked to be seated for dinner and wanted to sit in the conservatory part, but had to go back after 30 mins because there were no tables. Upon returning they sat us both facing a wall, not even each other, so again we had to wait to be moved. At breakfast used plates weren’t removed when your hot dish arrived or fresh cutlery offered. We were only at this hotel for 36 hours so to have so many things to wrong in such a short space of time was very disappointing as this hotel is far from cheap.
