Spend a whole day touring the highlights of Ayutthaya by bike.
A one-day ride through history
The hundreds of temple ruins in Ayutthaya hint at its wealthy past when it thrived for centuries as the Siamese capital. You’ll arrive by train from Bangkok and spend the day on a cycling tour, visiting the most famous temples in the city and pausing to enjoy Ayutthaya as it is today when you stop at a local market and riverside restaurant.

Day 1
Ayutthaya
You’ll be collected from your hotel in Bangkok and board a train to Ayutthaya. On arrival, collect your bike and cycle north through Thai villages and rice paddies, briefly stopping off at Baan Hollanda Museum along the way. Then cycle onwards through Thailand's diverse communities to the first temple site of the day, Wat Chai Wattanaram. After this, you will head to a riverside restaurant where you can fully immerse yourself in Thai culture with a traditional lunch. In the afternoon, visit Wat Phukhao Thong, where you can get the perfect picture of the white and gold stupa against the backdrop of Ayutthaya Lake. Later, enter Ayutthaya's Historical Park, which features a variety of ancient ruins, including Wat Sri Sanpet with its three towering chedis. In the north-western section of the park, there is Wat Lokkayasutha; you can't really miss this 40-meter-wide and 8-meter-high reclining Buddha. Navigate your way around the lakes of Bueng Phra Ram Park to the final stop at Wat Mahathat, a temple that has significant royal stories to tell. Today, it is home to one of Ayutthaya's most iconic sights: a Buddha head that has been engulfed by the roots of a tree. After a long day of exploring, check in to the hotel for the night and enjoy a well-earned rest.
Day 2
Back to Bangkok
After breakfast at the hotel, return to the station and take the train back to Bangkok (departing at 13.20pm and arriving back at 14.30pm).
