Feel a million miles from the daily grind at this one-of-a-kind camping experience in the midst of the Balinese jungle
Capella Ubud is more than just a place to sleep. Campfires flicker under the star-lit skies, heated pools jut out into the jungle, wooden decks serve up valley views and hand-harvested ingredients make mouth-watering dishes. Hidden in the Balinese jungle amidst rice paddy fields and the Wos River, its setting couldn’t be more Instagrammable if it tried. Designed by architect Bill Bensley as a tribute to Bali’s European settlers, it’s the ideal spot to soak up Ubud’s natural surroundings all whilst enjoying the luxuries of a 5-star hotel. Incredible local experiences make your stay here even more special. From jungle treks to lakeside picnics and painting classes, magical moments await.
Why we love Capella Ubud
-
There are so many amazing experiences to be had here thanks to Capella Culturists. From jeep rides to coffee workshops, forest adventures and mountain cycling, it’s the sort of place that will stay with you forever
-
There are only 23 tents giving it that exclusive feel. And with private pools, beautiful antiques and views worthy of the group chat, these aren’t just your average tents
-
As if the hotel wasn’t relaxing enough, there’s also the resort’s spa, Auriga Wellness where you can indulge in the most incredible treatments
-
Families are more than welcome here. Not only will the pool, food and surroundings go down a treat but there’s also a Little Stars Experience so they can have fun and you can switch off
Rooms
Rooms, or should we say tents, are adorned with a medley of clashing patterns, bold colours and antique artefacts that pay homage to Indonesian heritage. There are 23 of them dotted throughout the lush landscapes. Private pools lie within touching distance of the trees, providing the most tranquil setting for sunshine swims. They also come with indoor and outdoor rain showers (we are in Bali after all) and copper bathtubs. Every detail has been thought of here, from welcome duffel bags with camp essentials to refreshment trunks supplying complimentary drinks and snacks.
Facilities

From marshmallow toasting under the stars to sipping handcrafted cocktails in tents and watching in-house chefs whip up Asian delights, eating at Capella Ubud is an experience in itself. Bespoke dining means you can enjoy things your way too. Whether you fancy a casual BBQ with the family or an intimate dinner for two, create memories as you clink glasses over fresh local produce and soak up jungle views.

What's Included
Breakfast at Mads Lange
Spas and campsites don’t usually go together, but this isn’t your average campsite. Auriga Wellness* is your go-to for relaxing days in the jungle with bespoke treatments performed using natural and organic products. We’d recommend trying Melukat, a spiritual cleansing ritual aimed to purify your body and soul. You can also enjoy morning yoga upon your private deck followed by a 2-hour Senja Massage and Swadhistanan Chakra Balancing. If keeping active is more your thing, there’s also The Armory, a state-of-the-art gymnasium tent. Or GI jungle, an intense boot camp perfect for those seeking a challenge.
If you can tear yourself away from the pool, there’s a whole host of activities to enjoy here. Whether you want to explore *Bali’s vibrant art scene, uncover the best warungs in Ubud, watch the sunrise from Mount Batur or experience Balinese home cooking, Capella Culturists make sure you leave with the most special memories.
Capella Ubud lies within a natural forest setting. During the design of the resort, the forest was left untouched in order to maintain the natural landscape. Refurbished vintage and antique furniture were also used. The resort has implemented a range of sustainable practices in order to minimise their environmental footprint. These include growing vegetables, spices, herbs and more in the Keliki Organic Garden and eliminating single-use plastic bottles with a water bottling plant. The resort also supports local children by providing English language classes in exchange for discarded plastic bottles from which proceeds go to help the school.
Whilst you’re busy relaxing in the spa, why not let the kids enjoy the Little Stars Experience? There are plenty of activities to keep them busy here. From creating cards, bracelets and kites to rice paddy walks, piggy bank decorating and Keliki painting classes, they’re the sort of experiences they’ll rave to their friends about back home.
