Odyssey of the Seas
The colossal Odyssey of the Seas is one of Royal Caribbean’s innovative and action-packed Quantum Class ships. In one day, you can surf, ice skate, skydive, eat and drink it up, catch live bands in lounges and see West End-quality shows.
Itinerary overview
Trip notes
Before your cruise
Few cities rival Rome and it’s a great launchpad for your holiday. For families, it’s gold. Get a gladiator-led tour of the Colosseum, send a postcard from Vatican City, taste the pasta, see the Pantheon and toss wish-laden coins into the Trevi Fountain. Stay at Hotel Kolbe, a 15th-Century converted convent next to the Roman Forum and walking distance from the Colosseum.

Trip notes
Beyond the book
This is a holiday for sailing through the centuries with history in plain sight. For kids, epic lessons are disguised as adventures – volcanic-ash ruins, myths of mermaids and lost cities, ancient Pompeii coming to life and Ephesus taking them way back in time. Do all the icons – Delos through to Pompeii – or mix a couple of the marvels with beaches, boat rides and boutique shops.

Trip notes
Family fun on board
Expect the wow factor with the biggest indoor activity centre (SeaPlex) afloat, packed with laser tag, bumper cars, basketball and more. Minis get a splash zone, wave lovers ride the FlowRider® and thrillists soar in the glass North Star. Family life is a breeze on this ship, with interconnecting cabins, flexible dining options, 24/7 snacks, resort-style pools and more.

Trip notes
After your cruise
Who doesn’t want to stretch the holiday out a little longer? Sani Club, Halkidiki, is the perfect post-cruise spot to do just that. Splash happy mornings, a Blue Flag beach, catamaran sailing, sports lessons, sunset dinners and kid-friendly menus. Choose interconnecting rooms or bungalows with private gardens or private pools. It’s all effortless luxury.

Days 1 to 3
Rome, Italy
See classics like the Colosseum (where you can go on a gladiator-led tour), Vatican City and Trevi Fountain, but also descend into the catacombs and wander Quartiere Coppedè. Multi-gen trip? Scoff pizza in trattorias and do strolls to the Spanish Steps.

Day 4
Rome, Italy
Board Odyssey of the Seas in Civitavecchia, the port city about an hour from Rome.

Day 5
At sea
How about shooting hoops, racing bumper cars and diving into VR on the upper deck? Or slipping away to the adults-only Solarium for a serene swim? Or rising nearly 100 metres above the ocean on the North Star, an ‘up in the clouds’ glass capsule almost defying description?

Day 6
Santorini, Greece
Perched on the rim of a volcanic crater, Santorini delivers the icons: blue domes, black sands and steep streets. Sail the caldera, uncover the Lost Atlantis at Akrotiri or stroll the Fira to Imerovigli path. That legendary sunset? No need to be back on board until late so watch it blaze from Oia or Ammoudi Bay.

Day 7
Ephesus, Türkiye
Ephesus is your front-row seat to the ancient world. Legend credits the Amazons for finding it. You’ll get to see 2,000 year-old marble ruins where senators and scholars once walked. A colossal library and theatre (acoustics still intact) make it one of the world’s best preserved cities of the ancient world.

Day 8
Mykonos, Greece
Mykonos is a maze of white-washed houses, windmills, bougainvillea and boutiques. Nibble honey-drizzled pastries, hit the rooftop terraces or sail 30 minutes to sacred Delos – birthplace of Apollo and Artemis – where ancient temples remain untouched by modern life. With luck, dolphins will race you there.

Day 9
At sea
Kids can cannonball at Splashaway Bay or check into dedicated clubs while you hit the hot tub or the gym. Reunite for hammock time and a Las Vegas-style theatre show.

Day 10
Naples, Italy
Say ciao to the Bay of Naples this morning, whose shore, according to lore, was shaped by the mythical mermaid Parthenope. Get ready for Vesuvius views, vespas and true Neapolitan pizza. Tour the treasures of ancient Pompeii or speedboat over to chic Capri.

Day 11
Rome to Halkidiki, Greece
Leave the Odyssey of the Seas and fly to Greece for some family beachside fun.

Days 12 to 15
Halkidiki, Greece
Check into Sani Club, where every generation finds their fun. Family rooms, kid-friendly menus, children’s clubs and sports academies – all in one very special place.

Day 16
Halkidiki, Greece
Today it’s time to leave these lands of myths and legends and make your way home.
