Rosenhof Country House, Oudtshoorn
The place to stop and smell the roses
This graceful period hotel on the outskirts of Oudtshoorn embraces classic style.
Just outside of Oudtshoorn – a popular inland stop on South Africa’s Garden Route – this country house sets the bar high for classic country retreats. Every inch of the hotel has been meticulously restored and the result looks like something straight out of a storybook. The building dates back to around 1852 and the grounds are immaculate with a rose garden which gives the hotel its name. Whether you’re stopping for a night while visiting Oudtshoorn’s ostrich farms and nearby Cango Caves, or looking for a somewhere beautiful to call home for a week, you’ll be pleasantly surprised with this classic little gem.
Why we love Rosenhof Country House, Oudtshoorn
-
Throughout this historic building, you'll find works by South African artists
-
The owner is passionate about roses with 20 varieties in the spectacular gardens
-
After exploring the Klein Karoo, relax by the fire with a class of vintage red from the wine cellar
-
To embrace the locally-sourced seasonal produce, the dinner menu changes daily
Rooms
Each room would look at home in an issue of Country Living, with warming tones of magnolia and olive green and plush, upholstered pieces. There are just 12 rooms and suites – rooms looking out to the manicured gardens. For added privacy, Suites are located further away from the main house and come with their own pool and views of the distant Swartberg Mountains.
Facilities
The Country Kitchen specialises in seasonal cuisine sourced locally in the Karoo. Choose your location - in the dining room, by the pool or perhaps on the veranda overlooking the gardens. The walk-in wine cellar stocks plenty of South African vintages.
What's Included
