Lovely hotel, great stuff but overpriced water sports do not trust JJ
We stayed here for 10 nights with our 2 children at the end of August. The grounds are lush, room was spacious and food was lovely. The hotel is well prepared with Covid precautions and although we had a late flight they gave us a room to have a shower and freshener before our flight. We are 100% coming back to this hotel The hotel has a onsite water park which is perfect with the kids and fun for adults too. Only problem is the water sports are double the price then anywhere else in Turkey. Do not book with JJ who is a fraud, book your water sports a short walk down the beach for 1/2 the price and same providers ... A day trip to Marmaris to swim with dolphins was fantastic at £72 per person worth the 1 and 1/2 drive there are also cheap water sports jet ski £20 and parasailing for £40. Speedy also took some amazing family snaps which we will look back on forever
Best beac front holiday otel - EVER
Stayed at lots of more expensive all-inclusive Caribbean resorts e.g. Sandals (which I cannot fault either) but this one is closer to home, closer to the airport and quite exceptional. The grounds are soooo well maintained. I felt sorry for the multiple gardeners, wearing masks outside, toiling in the heat. Loved the layout - never more than a few yards from a bar or snack site. All-inclusive means just that too. Had the 15 Euro extra meals at the Tao and Vento Restaurants and they were well worth it. Book early morning though, or you won't get in next day !! BBQ food at the Vento was exceptional. Savoy Grill London quality, presentation and staff attention to detail equally Savoy standards. Covid precautions were exceptional - temperatures taken before entering the restaurant, staff reassuring gloved and masked at all times. My travelling companion is somewhat disabled, and had to use an electric wheelchair (a few problems with that, but the Hotel did their best), but our room was three doors away from the lift, on the reception and Piano Forte Bar level, which helped our mobility a lot. Staff in the restaurants and the bars could not do enough for us, and went out of their way to help my disabled companion at every opportunity. I think some of the young waiters "adopted" him as their Granddad lol. We felt valued, protected and the kindest courtesies were extended to us at every turn. THANK YOU EVERYONE
Lost its Appeal
We really loved our first visit two years ago, so decided to come back this year for a quick break from covid UK. This is a decent hotel overall but unfortunately it's started losing its appeal. We did generally enjoy our stay, however found the small, but plentiful issues enough of a reason not to consider returning for a third trip. Like most hotels where Brits stay, if you don't get up at 7am to reserve a sunbed, you won't get one in the sun or maybe even one at all. Be prepared to spend your day stuck in the shade or wandering around for ages trying to find somewhere to lie, if you're a late riser. There were always plenty of beds down at the beach, if you don't mind not using the pool. While this is a common issue holidaying abroad, we did not have this issue on our last visit, despite coming at a busier time of year. The class of guest has deteriorated since our last stay, probably due to the discounted covid prices. Expect to see guests in the dinner restaurant in sports gear, and guests with wet swimwear at lunchtime. I don't know if there's a dress code, but for a 5* hotel, you would expect some level of class. I've stayed at plenty of 4* hotels that enforce a basic level of dress code, at the very least forbidding wet swimwear. There were numerous nights where I was awoken by shouting guests in the hallways (and I am talking about 3am, not 9pm). Covid regulations were not adhered to by the guests in the slightest, and staff did absolutely nothing to enforce social distancing. Prepare for huge groups surrounding food stations in the restaurant/bars and both guests and staff ignoring one way systems. The toilets all had capacity limitations clearly stated, but again, guests completely ignored these. At one point I found myself in a bathroom with a capacity for one, with three other male guests crammed in. It was common to see both guests and staff not covering their noses with face masks and we were shocked to see some bar staff not covering their faces at all. The food is generally okay, but will often look a lot better than it tastes, in particular the desserts looked very pretty but had no flavour or had unusual stale textures. I also hope you like oil, because most items are DRENCHED in it. Some food that should have been hot was served cold, while other foods (particularly meats) can often be found completely dried out under the hot lamps. The buffet is served to you by the staff due to covid which was not an issue in principle, but they loved to overload your plate with way more than you could eat, despite asking for small portions. A massive waste of food that makes you feel extremely guilty and embarrassed when you can't clear your plate. Be prepared to memorise all the bar opening times, because for some bizarre reason they aren't displayed at any of them and they all open/close at different times. I would recommend staying away from the cocktails. We enjoyed them previously, but most of them this time tasted like feet. A few were pleasant, but it seemed to be down to luck in who made your cocktail to whether it was drinkable. Drinks menus are located on the web instead of physical menus, but you have to physically go to the bar to get to the QR code to scan to find the web pages for each individual bar. The roof terrace and bars street were both closed for covid during our stay. Although bars streets was opened one day for the football, because apparently covid doesn't affect football supporters. The lack of open bars meant the piano bar and entertainment bar were often full in the evenings. The rooms are adequate, but are starting to show age. The lock on our patio door, the telephone, the bath plug, the bathroom shaving socket, the lamp by the chair and the AC were all broken in our room, accompanied with stained sofa/chair/ironing board and a suspicious red stain on our bedding on the first night. Their are broken metallic art pieces situated in most toilets around the hotel that need replacing, it appears the guests have been breaking them. Our dressing gowns had huge holes in them, and we received plenty of towels during our stay that were badly frayed or stained. As a front sleeper, I found the bed uncomfortable and the choice of pillows were not appropriate for front sleepers. I spent the week with a very sore neck. I would advise you bring lira with you if you plan on going out, because the hotel ATM charges 6% above the exchange rate, PLUS 6% commission. The hotel reception charges even MORE... We booked our holiday at a discounted rate, but would probably not comeback again even at a discount and would definitely not come back at the usual RRP.
Very Good Hotel Requiring Some Improvements
Positives first! :-) You do not need to worry about COVID, the hotel is outstandingly clean, masks everywhere, guests are equally very careful and because the grounds are so big, literally even during normal times you would find yourself socially distancing anyway. On that aspect, hotel is doing a great job well above and beyond my expectations. We got back from our holidays at Hilton yesterday after a fantastic, 11-night stay there. It might be one of the few places which made me yearn to leave a comment on tripadvisor to praise their diligent work. The hotel itself, its grounds, the staff altogether offer you an incredibly good stay. I want to in particular send my kudos to Deniz and Oguz at Sarıgerme restaurant for their warm, welcoming, and incredible service throughout our stay. Equally, I cannot think of anyone as dedicated as Selin at Citrus. They are altogether few members of the staff who monitor your needs and without calling for them, they are there to ask if you needed anything else. Though all the other staff are always very happy to serve as well when you catch their attention. I can not recommend enough morning water gym at 11:30! Selin was an incredible, funny instructor and definitely attending the water gym in the mornings was one of the highlights of my mornings. Also Bulent and Nursen will always welcome you every time with their big warm smiles if you fancy some other day time activities. I would also recommend the spa experience, however be minded that the spa is rather on the expensive end. Having said that the spa was the best that I have seen in terms of infrastructure, facilities etc. It was so lush and beautiful, decorated with beautiful mosaics and Greek sculptures. Also the after-treatment rooms and pool were again thought fully designed and decorated. After turkish bath treatment along with classical massage I traveled back in time to my babyhood days feeling so pampered! Gizem at spa front desk would definitely make sure that your needs are met. Our masseurs Durmus and Nami might have performed the most relaxing massage which we have ever had! My sister could not recall the name of her masseuse, but she left the spa with the very much same comments. Seriously, you would physically feel like a different person. My regret for not having once in the beginning and another one at the end. They also have a great guest relations team who are more than eager to address every single complaints, snag, or whatever troubles you. Also, they follow it up to make sure that the resolution is up to your standard. I cannot thank Murvet enough for her efforts to make our stay outstanding. The only negative side from our eyes along with other members of my family would be the sea. They cannot do much about it, but if you are not a confident swimmer and having time at sea is important to you, this hotel may not be the right one for you. The sea gets deep very quickly and very wavy. The hotel of course cannot do anything about it, but it might be important factor for some in their decision making. My suggestions for improvement would be, service of beverages to sun beds by the pool side. I find it a bit excruciating experience to get up and fetch your drink yourself every time. Eventually, we have just decided not to bother anymore with drinks. Other point would be, I am not trying to be sexist, but some male staff members are a bit abrupt when they serve or walk around on the premises. They put the plates, glasses etc. on the table very harsh almost making you feel uncomfortable. Some just barge through despite seeing that you are on their way. It was the first time that I have seen staff desperately makes you give way to them which was also annoying to us. I can say that half of the staff who were serving food at the main restaurant stations were almost sulky and down which again made us feel miserable at times as if we were bothering them. Some even react as if we were pestering them and giving the least desired pieces of the dish that they are serving. I cannot understand why they try to serve corners or dry bits of something in the first place, but why someone also thinks that this is what a customer would prefer to eat. I am very little impressed with the main restaurant so we ended up booking more a la carte restaurants where both the food and the service were great. There has been a clear absence of restaurant management/front house presence at the main restaurants, bars or cafes, so that they could be a bit more attentive and improve experience. As mentioned above apart from a small percentage the other staff members at the restaurants/cafes, they look but barely see that you need their attention. Also the spa can offer more beverages for their guests e.g herbal teas, refreshments, some fruits at their cafe like place, so that the experience can be enhanced when you use the premises before or after your treatment. I do not know if they can do anything about the frog statues, but finding them not the most attractive piece of art is one thing, they can be extremely scary if you are not careful at night time. We all had at times very disturbing experience of confusing them for different things on our way back to the hotel! 🙄 I hope that this will help fellow holiday makers to their decision making.
Covid safe and still highest standards
We visited for a fourth time in September. The hotel staff have done a fantastic job rethinking how they deliver the previously great service in times of Covid and they did this really well. More tables, socially distanced with all staff masked and gloved set a great standard. For the first time ever we had rain for 30 minutes (not what we call rain in Scotland really) and the staff quickly swapped everything around to allow the outdoor entertainment to proceed safely and in dry comfort. As ever, great range of branded international drinks with the only shortfall being the use of syrups rather than fresh fruit in the cocktails. Food is tasty, hot (when needed), varied with several restaurants available. A great experience for a laid back holiday.
