Good taste at Lotus Court Restaurant

We were moved two times during our 4 days stay. First room was too far for our five year old and we had to walk through unsafe and old wooden pathways just to go to our room room. We’ve requested from the front desk to transfer us to a better room. We were transferred to another room, but the room has a broken AC, TV and room safe were also not working. Then, they moved us to another room, but the room was dirty and has mildew/ mold smell. Most of the time, the phone in the room didn’t work, so we have to walk to the front desk if we need anything.

Centara Please do not be fooled, this hotel is absolutely beautiful on the outside, however they have major issues, both with their rooms, staff, WiFi, phone service, and attention to detail. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt, that they were absolutely NOT ready for the number of guests they accepted this past weekend. We had so many issues and by the end, the hotel tried to make certain accommodations to assist us, but the damage with our vacation was already done. Pros: Great breakfast, great food, beautiful property, and some of the guest service employees were helpful. Cons: DO NOT believe them if you have an early flight. As you are aware you have to take a ferry service to the hotel. Their first ferry service from the hotel to the Krabi main island begins at 0800. Our flight was at 0950 and I was ASSURED it would be no problem and we would have plenty of time. That was not the case! Once we arrived, they said 0800 was not early enough and we’d have to pay extra (4000baht then reduced to 3000baht) to reserve a 0700 ferry! We were obviously very upset, since we were lied to and misinformed. If we knew this, we would have never booked both our flight and at this hotel. The hotel at the end of the day accommodated us, but again, the damage to our vacation was done due to the stress and time wasted discussing this issue. Also, we found out that the hotel did charge a few thai families 2500baht to ride this “special” 0700 ferry. Additional cons WiFi was nonexistent (which was fine, we were there for the beach), if you are unable to walk up stairs and decent hills do not book the premier rooms there are barely any shuttle services, their phones worked 50% of the time so we were unable to call the front desk or room service, our room was sandy and dirty, some of the receptionists were extremely rude and did not provide the same sales and discounts to all guests unless you ask, and you can definitely see the different ways they treated the locals versus foreigners. I apologize for the long review, but please be aware before booking!!! They again tried their best to fix some issues, but most were unresolved and we left so disappointed.
The worst experienced ever!
First off don’t be deceive of the hotel’s pictures. The property on the outside looks absolutely stunning but once you checked in everything is old and dated almost every where. We arrived at the hotel around 1:30 p.m. We were told the room is not ready yet, it will be for another 2 hours or so (considering the check out time is 11 a.m.) Since we haven’t ate lunch we hang out in the restaurant and the menu doesn’t have a lot of option and the food prices is outrageous. We just came back from Vana Belle Hotel in Koh Samui but the pricing for the food is affordable and incredible 5 star quality. The food in Centara at Lotus Court is meeeeeehhh nothing special. After waiting we were finally able to go to our room. First thing we saw, the room was really dirty a lot of stains in the blanket, dust everywhere and inside the toilet there’s water coming out from the ceiling. When we tried to put our drinks in the refrigerator, its not even working and it smelled so bad like there’s dead rotten rat inside. Requested for them to change it, they didn’t bother to do anything. Also, the wifi and phone line is down the whole time we were there so if you need anything from the reception you had to work back to the lobby so you can inform them about it. What a hassle! I felt like they’re doing that on purpose. Also, the swimming pool has a lot of insects floating around like it haven’t been cleaned for a long long time and the beach is not really swimmable. Its brownish and a lot of trash floating. Enough of the room and the hotel and let’s move on to the food. They offered us a seafood and bbq buffet promotion for 1,400 baht or 46 USD. Once we got to the restaurant, they said we have different types of seafood and meat bbq. Its only shrimp, chicken, mussels, and squid. Not really worth it. The shrimp was not even cooked properly and the mussels was burnt. The food is not worth it at all and its not included drinks which is a big surprised. We had to wait a long time before they refill the food in the trays. Drinks are expensive too. A wrong decision/judgment on my part, I should have cancelled it. Another big issue for us was the boat transfer. The hotel conveys how secluded the hotel is and it’s accessible by boat transfer for all the guests free of charge. Oh well that didn’t work out for us. Me and my friend called them several times and confirmed that they had a boat transfer ready for us because we had an early flight. They said yes, so we switched our hotel reservation to Centara instead of staying in a hotel in Ao Nang. They tried to charge us 4,500 baht or 150 USD for a 10 minute boat ride to take us to the pier because we wanted to leave earlier. We said no. The next day they said we have a special price for 3,000 baht or 100 USD. We said no again and we will just check out a day early but they called us all of a sudden iand said they had it figured out and will accommodate our request free of charge. This is a money hungry hotel if they can charge you for everything they will do it. For 3 nights stay, I paid 4,300 baht or 145 USD a night and almost 4,000 baht or 130 USD for food. Totally unacceptable and experienced the worst ever here. Even if they give me a free voucher to stay at the hotel, I won’t even do it. Not really 5 star quality more like 2 star. I’m not a type of person to say negative stuff but I felt robbed by this hotel because it’s not worth it. Do your research first before booking at this hotel.
Avoid at all cost!! It will ruin your holiday.
We are looking forward to the holiday for so long and this hotel just ruins it. The hotel looks really old vs the picture. The door of our room can't be open by the key card. The bathroom door can't be closed propwrly. The light bulb looks like it is about to burst in any minute. The alcohol bottle looked very dirty. The staffs were not able to deal with the request to change the room fast enough. avoid this hotel at all cost! It will ruin your holiday!!
