The place is too old. The location is really nice but difficult to get into other place. The staff is nice but not that impressive. The room is a bit mess with insects. The bed is quite dirty for me. Even the television is also old. The only thing that impressed me is the location. Others are not good enough compared with the price.
Me & 2 friends been staying there for 4 nights on 22-26 of April 2021 ... The hotel is amazing , best view in the area , private beach and very good pool . We paid 6000 baht a night for the spa deluxe sea view with the jacuzzi in the balcony . I came there during covid 3rd wave which start just a few days before my visit , so the hotel and pool was almost empty most of our days there . I got a 5000 baht credit per day for food & drinks as part of a promotion of the hotel ...but seems the restaurant and the reception are not synchronized on this promotion so it cause alot of confusion every time we order and wanted to know how much credit I got left everyday ... Also , the 'farang' food in the restaurant was average at best , the Thai dishes was much better ...but don't expect amazing food . I got it for free everyday , so I can't complaint , but if I paid for that , I'll be disappointed . The breakfast buffet was very good , alot of options . Very nice crew in the hotel , even they was only 20% of the staff working , it didn't make any problem or any delay with orders . This hotel is very honey-moonish ... If u looking for peace and quite with amazing beach, pool and view , you'll gonna love it . 10/10 for my experience
Centara Grand, Krabi. A shocking experience
I feel strongly compelled to write to you and report my negative experience while staying at Centara Grand, Krabi. We stayed at the venue from Thursday the 15h throughout Sunday the 18th of April. The price paid was a premium one, as the total came close to 20K THB. Mind you, it would not be a problem if the 5-star rating would be true to itself. We are very well-traveled, and we do understand the accommodation industry as well as the restrictions that the pandemic brought on the whole. This is some different, however. Please also note that we specifically wrote into reservations, well ahead of time, advocating for a good staying and possibly a good view too. As a matter of fact, the booking was meant to be a treat for our honeymoon celebration. Regretfully, it was a total horror show from the 1st night onwards. The room was, and is, literally falling apart. In total dismay, I made sure I took enough pictures to document our shock and I am attaching those to this email. The amount of wear & tear and the general state of the room is hard to put into words. I guess the hotel must even have lost complete track of the last time an attempted (and clearly, failed) maintenance was ever made. To top it all off, things went from bad to worst when we went for the in-room dining. A pizza, a pasta, and a starter were all there was to the order, how could that possibly fail? It did. The waiter came in 40 mins later, brought pizza and pasta but no plates and no cutlery along. He went back to pick up the rest, and that took another chunk of 20 minutes. In the meantime, the whole meal went dead cold. Pizza and pasta, cold or not, were well beyond 7/11 standards. The starter, a basket of fried fish, was burnt beyond measure just like some volcano had it spat out. The night was of little sleep because much practical light was coming in from the back alley. The hotel forgot to provide some sleeping masks (and the welcome - fruit basket too, as we later found out) so we also got fully soaked in the morning light as soon as the sun set out for the day. Never seen a 5-star hotel without proper sun-blocking curtains, let alone one without any curtain but wooden blinds! The morning after, we checked the view, from the balcony, and although nice, a wide tropical plant was kind of blocking part of it. We soon found out that the accommodation next to us had no blocked view and... it was… vacant. The TV was a miserable 21” set that would have perhaps worked just OK as a computer monitor. In 2021, that set really had it. Throw it out and upgrade for god’s sake! Upon request, we got moved to another room. Things went a little better but not without any further incidents. Another gem was when a dude stationed at the Noppharat Pier, wearing civil clothes and no Centara outfit nor ID tag, just woke up from his nap to give us the 3rd grade on what business we had with the hotel upon us checking in for the 20.30 boat?? I conclude this letter stating that this was nothing short of a shocking experience and we are extremely disappointed with it. Of course, we will never ever book again with Centara and we are happy to take our business elsewhere.
We received a full memorable experiences staying at the property as well as had an excellent hospitality from staffs in every outlet in the hotel. Food was superb and we were really enjoy the taste and quality of the food.
Overall I had an enjoyable stay but try not to expect too much. The hotel was understaffed and in need of general maintenance, but given that my stay was during long holiday and the pandemic, quite understandable. The service was overall slow. The stairway to my room was underlit, dirty and filled with leaves. The hotel is on a private beach that has to be reached by hotel’s shuttle boat or a walking trail from Ao Nang. Big pros if you plan on staying at the property for most of your time but a tad troublesome if you want to go out to the city or an excursion. I recommend booking excursion with the hotel or arranging your private boat, so you can leave right from the property without having to take a detour to the main pier.
