A true gem for those who are looking for tranquility stay and immersing yourself with the nature as well as relaxing by the beach! Commendable hospitality and well trained team to attend to hotel guests. Many thanks to Ms.Sakinah for welcoming us and provided a great introduction of the resort as well as the friendly buggy driver Mr Ronald! I have booked the staycation offer and was lucky enough to be upgraded to the rainforest villa! Magnificent room with a balcony facing the natural stream, nothing more that I could ask for. Booked the Trek to Crystal Creek tour, for those who are into nature I strongly recommend to join this leisure trek into the beautiful creek with crystal blue water. I would also like to thank the Nature Team (Ms. Shakira) for providing options of nature activities and which would be suitable for my proposal. Mr Dev was our guide of the day and did a great job of educating us more on nature! The team has been very accommodating to special request of private tour for my proposal and this beautiful place has caught my other half off guard, glad to say she said Yes! Not forgetting our celebration dinner at Gulai House, we have ordered a variety of food (satay is a must-super tender meat!, stuffed squid with mixed seafood was good, garlic naan was crispy, buttermilk chicken was okay and ended with the gula melaka sago for dessert). Service in Gulai was great and we were touched by the gesture of a complimentary Congratulations cake from the Team :) In short, me and my fiancé had a wonderful time and a memorable one in Datai. Hoping to revisit in near future! To those who are considering this place, hesitate no more and experience it yourself.
A slice of heaven in the middle of a rainforest
This is our 2nd time in 2 years coming to the Datai and it didnt fail to disappoint. Every moment is perfect from the first second your drop off your car to the valet to the last second when you drive off to the airport, sad that you have to leave. We stayed for 4d3n which is not enough but unfortunately we have to return back to our day jobs in order to save up enough money to come back here again. Yes, it isn't cheap but quality often doesn't come cheap. So what are her greatest strenghts? In no particular order... 1) Service. It doesnt take long for each service member to remember your name and preferences. By day 2, the breakfast team will remember your drink orders/ customized food orders. Speaking of breakfast, they do serve champagne and lobster omelets amoung other dishes. Personally, their Nasi Lemak is one of the best i've eaten (just make sure to ask for more sambal) Any issues is promptly dealt with along with immediate service recovery. 2) Location Nestled inside the rainforest, you are literally surrounded by million year old trees. The sound of birds / monkeys / squirrels and other animals constantly surround you every second of the day. If that wasn't enough, you have a private beach with ample deck chairs and sofa's with staff coming over to provide ice water and any thing else you might need. 3) Activities There are daily activities for you to sign up for. We did the morning walks as well as the evening walks and got to see tons of animals hidden in the rain forest. These were all complimentary, however do sign up early as they are limited spots. What could be improved, 1) Although the quality of the breakfast was great, the selection/variety can be improved as it was the same spead since last April. Perhaps a refresh of the menu is in order? So thats it, book today, you will not be disapointment. We are already trying to plan our next trips back.
Three Nights in Luxury
We had some rain but still enjoyed a fantastic trip to the Datai in late September. The food - amazing! We tried all the restaurants and they were each outstanding. We were able to work off the champagne breakfasts at the Health Club with Edo. All around the service was impeccable and we really appreciated how everyone was conscientious about keeping safe and protected from COVID. One suggestion...a little music would be great at the beach bar. All of us at the bar were requesting it but the bartender said it wasn't allowed.
Excellent in almost every department.
The Datai I’ve struggled to start this review as I feel like I’m cheating on a good friend. We stayed for 10 nights in February and had a lovely holiday. There were many very great parts but sadly it just slightly failed in the service department. Pros Stunning location. The hotel is set in a 10m year old rainforest and on an award winning beach. The hotel has been exquisitely refurbed from top to toe. Our room (rain forest villa) was magnificently appointed, with a very comfy bed, huge bathroom and great balcony looking into the forest. 4 very good restaurants, with a very generous half board. An exceptional wine list : the island is tax free and the wines are extremely good value, which for a hotel of this standard is unusual. The ecological statement the hotel and what its management are achieving is exceptional. The new nature centre is brilliant. We went on most of their nature walks and they were all informative and very enjoyable. So where are they letting themselves down, I hear you ask? Cons: The service: There seemed to be a clear lack of direction from senior staff and lack of face to face contact with management. Breakfast: little things like tea / coffee would arrive when the cooked breakfast had been eaten and taken away. Beach service was poor. Beds were reserved but not used until nearly midday, and when we arrived (usually about 9.30-10) we would have to move and set our own beds. There is however, a regular service of water, and afternoon mini ice creams. The evening bar in the main reception was understaffed. So all in all, it’s a great hotel but the service wasn’t quite up to scratch. We didn’t get to meet the general manger at all (am told he was away on business) and the only time we saw the resort manager was at the complimentary cocktail party. As I mentioned before, the staff at the nature centre were truly warm, and the Datai Pledge is a very special policy of the hotel. But I just wished I could’ve raved about the service too
The Datai is Magnificent
We were given a gift by a friend and it was a trip and stay at the datai langkawi. This.place is magnificent what with the beautiful scenery and blending in with nature - you will never want to go home.
