Caledra of Salazie

Visit the largest of La Reunion’s three calderas, the verdant Salazie which is located in the north of the island. Travel along the coastal road and through the capital Saint Denis before heading inland and up into the caldera. Stop in the mountain town and living museum of Hell-Bourg where you can witness the charming Creole houses that line the streets. After admiring the natural scenery of the caldera visit La Maison Folio, a colonial villa with lovely gardens that will take you back to the 19th Century.

Caledra of Salazie 4X4

Head into the heart of the island in a 4X4 and experience some of Réunion's most spectacular landscapes only accessible by heading off road. Begin your trip early and head towards the waterfall Niagara before ascending to the beautiful cirque of Salazie. En route you will pass waterfalls such as Veil of the Bride and enjoy a number of photo stops. Continue on to the village of Grand Ilet where the fruit vegetable chouchou is grown. Follow the forest road and witness the beautiful cirque of Mafate. On your return you will travel through the village of Salazie, have lunch near the hamlet of Ilet à Vidot and visit the village of Hell-Bourg to see examples of Creole architecture.

Cilaos

On this full day tour you will witness the beautiful landscapes of the caldera of Cilaos. Begin your day at ‘The Blower of Saint-Leu’ – a coastal blowhole caused by water being forced through a lava fault. You will then be transported up into the island’s interior, and the town of Cilaos, along the ‘road with 400 bends’. From the view point at La Roche Merveilleuse you can enjoy panoramic views of the vibrant town and its surroundings which sit nestled in the caldera. The tour continues with a visit to the embroidery house of Jours de Cilaos and concludes back on the coast. This experience is on a private basis with English-speaking driver/guide.

Helicopter flights

A helicopter flight over La Reunion’s spectacular landscapes is an experience not to be missed. See jagged peaks, coastal scenery, waterfalls, volcanoes and lava flows frozen in time as you soar over the island. From a 15 minute trip to the Mafate caldera to the 45 minute all-encompassing ‘L'Incontournable’ and the 55 minute ‘Le Must’ flights, there are plenty of choices depending on your budget.

Maido's Peak Half Day

Climb up from the coast to an altitude of 2200 metres through villages, acacias forest, geranium fields and forested landscapes to reach the Maïdo peak at the edge of the caldera of Mafate. From here look down on the villages, hiking trails and mountain slopes. On the return journey visit a geranium essence oil producer and, if you're visiting on a  Friday, the market in Saint Paul to browse the stalls selling a variety of traditional Reunionese produce.

Volcano & Wild South

Combine an exploration of the volcano Piton de la Fournaise with a visit to the dramatic coastal scenery and lava flows of the south on a private 4x4 trip with English-speaking driver/guide. Enjoy majestic views from Nez de Boeuf, the other-worldly Plaine des Sables and Pas de Bellecombe which is situated at 2311 metres above sea level. Journey south taking a trip along a forest trail and learn about the island's plant species before enjoying a traditional creole lunch at a local guest house. Following lunch you will witness some of the most recent lava flows as they seemingly swallow up the land and travel down to the sea. Finally travel to the coastal village of Cap Mechant to view the wild seas and black cliffs.
