room with a view
what a great location !! spectacular view from our terrace, close to shopping, food and entertainment.......nice breakfast, lousy coffee.....but a great place to stay....our room was big but the bed was hard!!!..... bathroom large with tub and shower.....walking distance to town... service was also good.... mt etna easy to see
Always a great view
Excellent views of Mt Etna from the rooms and the pool. Location is convenient to all of Taormina. Great Staff and great hotel, with shuttle to sister hotel down on the coast. One of my favorite places to stay in Sicily.
Terrible Accommodations and Service
We stayed at this hotel in August. Upon our arrival, we were given the key to room 437. We encountered a hallway filled with old mattresses, bed frames, and a desk which prevented us from even reaching our room. When we called the reception desk to alert them to this, we were told that there was nothing that they could do to help us.We insisted that the situation was unacceptable and that someone needed to come up to assist us. No one from the reception desk offered to come up to see the problem. After a lengthy phone conversation, during which we insisted that something needed to be done, they finally sent up a worker to remove the refuse from the hallway. This episode was both upsetting and time consuming. I contacted the Assistant Manager of the hotel via email the very next day. He offered his apologies and assured my traveling companion and me that we would receive a discount. I have emailed him numerous times, but he has never responded or provided a discount. This hotel may have once been lovely, but it is rundown and has an inept staff. The pool is beautiful and has breathtaking views, but I would not recommend staying here. It was the most expensive hotel we booked over our 2 1/2 week stay in Sicily and was by far one of the worst hotel experiences I have had over the course of many years of international travel.
I spent 2 nights here with my brothers at the end of the trip. The view/setting of the hotel was exceptional. The rooms themselves were roomy and had balconies overlooking the sea. There was a very large pool many floors below that also had beautiful views particularly at sunset. The dining area could have been a reception venue for a wedding. The breakfast was plentiful with many options. While there were large groups at the hotel while we were there, I still felt like the front desk was attentive and helpful. The location is walking distance to the Greek theatre(approximately 15 min walk) which should be seen.
Old Hotel a Little Tired
This was the most disappointing hotel of our Sicily trip. The hotel caters to groups and there were many arriving and leaving. The views are beautiful, the rooms need updating. Breakfast was not good. However, it is fairly close to the main streets after climbing a few steep hills, and there might not be a better choice.
