Perched on an elevated ridge in Welgevonden Private Game Reserve, the lodge enjoys spectacular views across the bushveld, creating a safari experience that's as much about slowing down and taking in the landscape as it is about spotting the Big Five. With just a handful of tents and suites, the atmosphere remains intimate and exclusive, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of the African bush. Designed to make the most of the lodge's elevated position, the accommodation at Elephant Crossing pairs safari-style charm with sweeping reserve views. Whether you choose a Luxury Tent, Tented Suite or Bush Villa, each option offers its own outdoor space where you can relax and soak up the tranquillity of the surrounding wilderness.

Set further away from the lodge for added privacy, the Tented Suite offers more space, a larger deck and a plunge pool.

Ideal for friends or families with older children travelling together, the two-bedroom Bush Villa enjoys a private setting. Please note that the two bedrooms are separate rather than interleading, requiring guests to step outside onto the deck to move between them.

Dining is one of Elephant Crossing's best-kept secrets. Freshly prepared meals are served in relaxed surroundings, while the lodge's elevated setting provides a spectacular backdrop of endless bushveld views. It's the perfect place to savour a sundowner and watch the landscape change colour as the sun sets over the reserve.

Located within the UNESCO-recognised Waterberg Biosphere, Welgevonden Private Game Reserve is committed to protecting the region's unique wildlife and habitats. All guests contribute through a daily park fee and conservation levy, which supports the maintenance of the reserve's roads, infrastructure and security, as well as vital wildlife management programmes. These contributions also help fund community initiatives, including biodiversity monitoring and environmental awareness projects, ensuring the benefits of conservation extend beyond the reserve itself.
Children under 6 years of age are permitted on game drives if the vehicle is booked on a private basis only.
Early mornings and evenings can be cool throughout the year, particularly during the winter months (June to August).
We recommend packing a warm jacket, scarf and a few extra layers to stay comfortable.
As with any safari, layering is key, as temperatures can change significantly throughout the day.
