Perched on a secluded stretch of sand, Kumu Beach is all about barefoot bliss. Backed by palm-fringed lawns, the ocean-facing infinity pool sits at the heart of the resort – dive into the refreshing waters or slink into a lounger on the sun deck. Rooms
There are just 10 bedrooms, each one thoughtfully designed by Annika Fernando with colourful Batik art, hand-crafted furnishings and bespoke touches. Calming tones create a bright and airy atmosphere whilst wooden accents add warmth. Kumu Bedrooms are the most basic, yet still beautiful with teak panelling and modern rain showers. One step up from that are the Oceanview bedrooms with furnished outdoor spaces overlooking the Indian Ocean. Oceanview suites are a bit more generous with huge bathrooms, living areas and either sea-facing balconies or direct pool access.

Double the size of the Kamu Rooms, these sleep up to three adults or two adults and a child. They have views of the Indian Ocean from the balcony or terrace, and a four-poster bed.

Facilities
Ocean views, local produce and exceptional service – dining here is a memorable experience. Menus are a mix of Sri Lankan and western dishes, crafted using homegrown vegetables and the freshest market ingredients. The sun deck is the perfect spot to start the day. Listen to the waves whilst sipping your morning coffee. In the afternoon, tea and cookies await – served from 3.30 until 4.30, it’ll fill you up until dinner. Evenings are a flavoursome affair with signature dishes such as sesame crusted yellowfin tuna and regional rice and curry.
Restaurant
All day à la carte dining with a special menu for dinner, the restaurant offers everything from quick light bites to five-course meals. You can dine indoors or alfresco upon the sun deck. Or, if you want to make your evening extra special, opt for a candlelit dinner by the ocean. The restaurant also has a bar offering exotic cocktails alongside beers, wines and spirits.

Take your pick from a range of treatments featuring 100% natural products, perfect for pre or post flight pampering. Skin-soothing essential oils are infused with homegrown ingredients like green tea and pink lotus, leaving you feeling relaxed and your skin feeling nourished. Private yoga sessions are also available with an expert instructor.
Kumu Beach work to support the ecosystem and the local community. Initiatives include regular clean-ups in the local area, using homegrown produce and working with local suppliers to reduce food miles. In the rooms you’ll find eco-friendly touches such as refillable glass water bottles, biodegradable amenities and chemical-free toiletries.
