 Constance Tekoma

A tranquil, beachfront lodge

Sitting above one of Rodrigues’ best-looking beaches, Constance Tekoma is a villa-only retreat where life quickly drops into a lower, happier gear.

Constance Tekoma is all about perspective. The hotel sits high enough to give you those sweeping, stop-you-in-your-tracks views, but close enough to the shoreline that the sea is always part of the day. Days tend to revolve around meals, swims, walks along the beach, and time spent doing very little, very well. If you love the calm confidence of Constance Prince Maurice on Mauritius but want something smaller, simpler, and even more elemental, this will click immediately.

Why we love Constance Tekoma

  • The setting is exceptional, with panoramic views that shape the entire experience from morning to night

  • Villa-only accommodation gives you space, privacy, and a sense of being properly settled rather than passing through

  • The 1528 restaurant is genuinely memorable, combining standout cooking with one of the best dining views on Rodrigues

  • It’s ideal for total tranquility and switching off. Not only is it pretty far-flung, you’re not sharing the space with many others, giving it a glorious sense of peace

15 hours (not including stopover time)
Constance Tekoma sits on the east coast of Rodrigues at Anse Ally, overlooking a wide, open beach with very little built up around it, giving a feeling of space and calm.
After flying to Mauritius, it is around a 90-minute onward flight to Rodrigues Island, followed by a coastal drive to the hotel.

If there’s a mic-drop moment here, it’s the main restaurant perched above the beach, where panoramic ocean views accompany confident, generous cooking rooted in local ingredients. The spa is small, quiet, and intentionally personal, built around unhurried treatments you can take solo or side by side in the double room. There’s no fitness room, but you’ll find the beach keeps tempting you into swims and long shoreline walks anyway.

Organised activities stay intentionally light, more menu than timetable. Guided hikes help you read the coastline properly, while 4x4 outings, bike and scooter rentals and island discovery excursions open up the interior at your own pace.

There’s a dedicated dive centre where you can explore vibrant coral reefs and protected marine gardens below the surface, whether you’re new to diving or already certified. Snorkelling off the shore and in shallow patches of reef brings lively sea life into easy view, and there are opportunities to venture further by boat for deeper water or fishing when you want something more than calm lagoon paddling.

The hotel follows Constance’s group-wide programme focused on cutting energy and water use, phasing out single-use plastics, and tightening waste sorting and recycling on site. Solar power and efficiency systems reduce load on the island grid, while sourcing leans local to support Rodrigues producers and limit imports. There is also active attention on protecting reefs and coastal ecosystems through conservation partnerships and staff training, tying the guest experience directly to the long-term health of the environment around it.

Tekoma works best for families with older children or teenagers who are happy swapping screen time for sea time. Villas give everyone a bit more space than a standard hotel room, and Beachfront Villas make beach days as simple as opening a door. This isn’t a resort built around kids’ clubs or constant distraction, but for families who like being outdoors together, it feels natural and easy.
