Itinerary overview
Trip notes
Before your cruise
Three days in Lisbon pre-cruise is a chance to sink into the city’s rhythms and enjoy food, wine, sweets and fado music. After a city highlights tour that’s included so you can get your bearings, do a day trip to seaside Cascais or the storybook palaces of Sintra. Or swap out Lisbon and head for the Azores for salty, earthy, black-lava-island adventures.

Trip notes
Tri -nations
Pack three countries in to one holiday for a voyage of different cultures, cuisines and composition that feels thrilling but never exhausting. Portugal, Spain and France. Wine, scenery and celebration. You’ll be sailing to tucked-away treasures that are authentic and scented with personality. There will be culture, flavour and the Atlantic coast at every turn.

Trip notes
Life on board
Explora Journeys offer a yacht-like experience sailing to harbours humming with history and shorelines that come with culture. Long, lingering port days let you feel the heartbeat of each destination. Lesser-visited enclaves immerse you in their stories. And fewer guests and a high host-to guest ratio create the sense that this luxe life is designed just for you.

Trip notes
Vineyards & views
From barrel to glass, this trip is an ode to the art of living well. Take in riverside views and sweet reds in Porto’s tasting houses or take a delicious drive deep into the Douro Valley for vines and vintages. And if that’s not enough, you can treat yourself to a vineyard-lined road trip to Bordeaux (an hour’s drive) from Pauillac’s port for a peek at chic château life.

Days 1 to 3
Lisbon, Portugal
Lisbon is golden-age charm with a twist: tiny tiled cafés and top-chef restaurants. Explore Amalfa’s cobbles, step inside UNESCO-listed Jeronimos Monastery and don’t leave without trying a Pastel de Nata.

Day 4
Lisbon, Portugal
Departure day, and an afternoon embarkation on the dashing EXPLORA III.

Day 5
Porto, Portugal
Start at the Chapel of Souls, with tiles the colour of sky and snow. Have a Ribeira Atlantic fish lunch, or, with your early evening departure slot, there’s time to drive to the Douro Valley (two hours) for ruby ports, citrus whites and a taste of the good life.

Day 6
La Coruña, Spain
This northwestern corner of Spain is all saltspray, seaweed and just-caught seafood. Celtic influences, coastal mist, statues, steeples and tapas. An edge-of-the-map gem with its own local language.

Day 7
Bilbao, Spain
Listen out for the Euskara language, flit from medieval alleys to the Guggenheim and taste pintxos and txakoli wines in Basque Country.

Day 8
Pauillac, France
Arrive early for vineyards, grapes and first-growth wines. Chocolates, cheeses and grand chateaux. Follow the Médoc wine route from one cellar to the next.

Day 9
Saint Jean de Luz, France
In south-western France’s royal fishing port you can fill an afternoon with macarons, coffee and catch-of-the-day. Or gold-leaf churches, pedestrianised shopping streets and cliff-lined coastline.

Day 10
At sea
Find the finest moments in flavours (there are six restaurants on board), in water (four heated pools), in the spa or on a sports court.

Day 11
Southampton, UK
That’s it, you’re home. Time to get on the road, rails or up in the air for one last journey.
