You’ll arrive through olive groves to a place where the trulli come with a spa, a huge pool, and a very good excuse to stay put for dinner.
La Chiusa di Chietri sits in the Valle d’Itria countryside just outside Alberobello, spread across parkland planted with olive trees and Mediterranean gardens. It’s part traditional Apulian Masseria-style hotel, part modern resort, with a main hotel building and a separate hamlet of restored trulli dotted throughout the grounds. Days here tend to move easily between pool time, spa sessions, countryside exploring, and the occasional terrace aperitivo, with the UNESCO-listed trulli town of Alberobello around five minutes away when you fancy a wander.
Why we love La Chiusa di Chietri
-
If you want, you get the novelty of sleeping in a trullo with standard hotel rooms available too.
-
The grounds are big enough that you can wander between olive trees and gardens, not just room to restaurant.
-
You can sightsee all morning, then be back in time for an afternoon by the pool or a session in the wellness centre.
-
It’s a really easy base for exploring the Valle d’Itria without packing up and moving on every night.
Facilities
There’s a main restaurant, Nobis, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with menus rooted in regional Puglian cooking and seasonal local produce. Breakfast is buffet-style, while lunch and dinner move to more structured à la carte dining built around classic dishes from the region. There’s also a bar for drinks and lighter bites during the day or after dinner.

The wellness centre includes an indoor heated pool with hydromassage features, sauna, Turkish bath, sensory showers, and treatment rooms offering massages and beauty treatments. There’s also a small fitness area for anyone looking to balance out long lunches with something more energetic.
It’s a good base for exploring the Valle d’Itria, with Alberobello, Locorotondo, Martina Franca, and Ostuni all within easy driving distance. At the hotel, expect pool time, spa sessions, walks through the gardens, bike hire, and relaxed evenings on the terrace.
This is countryside rather than coast, but the Adriatic beaches are around 30 minutes away by car if you fancy a sea day.
The hotel incorporates restored historic trulli buildings, preserving traditional local architecture within the estate.
Family Rooms are available, and the large outdoor pool and open grounds make this an easy option for families travelling with children.
