Stay in Bari without the Old Town crowds, close enough to walk in, far enough out to sleep peacefully.
Set just behind Bari Centrale train station on the edge of the city centre, Hotel Excelsior Bari is a solid pick if you want to use the city as a base for exploring Puglia. You can walk into Bari Vecchia in around 20 minutes for seafood lunches and evening passeggiata, hop on a train for day trips to Polignano or Monopoli, then head back somewhere with space to unpack. It’s practical, well located, and makes getting around the region feel easy.
Why we love Hotel Excelsior
-
You can stroll into the historic centre for dinner, then walk back rather than queueing for a taxi.
-
The train station is a couple of minutes away if you’re planning coastal day trips.
-
Rooms are larger than many Old Town stays, which makes unpacking for a few nights much easier.
-
Being just outside the historic centre means things are noticeably quieter at night.
Rooms
Rooms are modern, comfortable and a little more spacious than many Bari Old Town stays, with clean lines, neutral tones, and plenty of natural light. They’re designed as an easy base rather than a design statement, but somewhere you can properly unpack after a day out exploring the city or travelling along the coast.
Facilities
The hotel’s main restaurant lays out a buffet breakfast to set you up for the day with pastries, fruit, hot dishes and proper Italian coffee. In the evening, the restaurant serves a menu of Mediterranean and Apulian dishes. There’s also a lounge bar for aperitivo drinks, coffees and light bites if you’re heading out for dinner in Bari Vecchia or just want something simple after a day exploring.
Farhà Restaurant
Buffet breakfast and relaxed Mediterranean dining in the evening, with regional Apulian dishes alongside classic Italian favourites.
Bar
A comfortable spot for morning coffees, aperitivo drinks or a nightcap.
