Mexico's Jungle Hideaway & Paradise Beach

This seven-night Riviera Maya trip gives you two different versions of Mexico’s Caribbean coast without turning the holiday into a road trip.

You start in Tulum, where jungle greenery, cenotes, beach clubs, wellness, and Mayan history give the first few days a nature-led feel. Then you move up the coast to Playa del Carmen, a livelier base with big beach-holiday energy, brilliant dining, and easy access to 5th Avenue when you want shops, bars, music, and a bit more going on. Both stays are all-inclusive, so the practical bits are nicely handled, but the real value lies in the location. You can keep the trip resort-led, then step out for Tulum’s ruins, cenotes, Cozumel, Chichén Itzá, or a night in town when you want Mexico to come a little closer.

Days 1-3

Tulum

Tulum is a great place to start because it feels greener, slower, and more connected to the landscape than the bigger resort areas further north. This is the part of the Riviera Maya where jungle, cenotes, Mayan ruins, and the hotel-zone beach scene all sit within reach, so you can shape the first few days around what you need after the flight. Go easy with pool time and spa time, or build in a trip to the ruins, a swim in a cenote, or an evening closer to the beach clubs and restaurants.

Days 4-7

Playa del Carmen

The second half moves north to Playa del Carmen, which gives the trip more beach, buzz, and choice. This is a fantastic base if you want the Riviera Maya to feel easy to explore, with Cozumel just offshore, Chichén Itzá as a bigger day trip, and 5th Avenue close by for a change of scene after dark. It’s a good contrast to Tulum because you still have Caribbean coastline, but with more restaurants, shopping, music, and people-watching when you want the holiday to feel a little more switched on.

Extend your holiday

Isla Mujeres

If you want to stretch the trip, add three nights on Isla Mujeres, a small island off the coast near Cancún. The catamaran transfer makes the extension feel like a proper arrival rather than just another hotel move, and once you’re there, the mood shifts again. Think sea views, slower island days, fine dining, and a more tucked-away finish after Tulum and Playa del Carmen. It’s a lovely add-on if you want the holiday to end with something more exclusive, more scenic, and a little bit special.
