Days 1-2

Singapore

We can't deny that it’s a long way to Australia from the UK, so rather than just touch down for a few hours en route, we’ve set aside a couple of days to explore one of South East Asia’s top tier destinations. If you like gardens, you’re in luck – there are plenty to pick from. And if high-end shopping and top-notch eats are more your thing, then you’ll be more than satisfied too: Singapore’s a delight for boutique browsers and epicureans. After a couple of days in, you’ll be adjusting to the time zone change and ready to make the trip down to Aus.

Day 3

Singapore to Australia

Spend your last morning in the Lion City fitting in anything you’ve missed, or revisiting your favourite places before boarding the plane that’ll whisk you down to Melbourne. It’s an overnight flight so you’ll arrive in good time on your first day Down Under.

Days 4-6

Melbourne

Melbourne is a modern metropolis of skyscrapers, world-famous sports centres, riverside parks and eclectic neighbourhoods. On your arrival day, drop your bags at the hotel and find a spot for a leisurely breakfast and take it all in; it’s a practically perfect introduction to your time in Australia. The next few days are split between independent city sojourns and a trip out to the and some time on the ultra-charming Phillip Island, home to the littlest penguins of them all: the blue penguins. Other Melbourne experiences for your consideration include a visit to some Yarra Valley vineyards or a Great Ocean Road out-and-back day trip.

Phillip Island Penguin Plus

Melbourne

Join a full-day group experience that’s easily bolted on to any break in the Melbourne area. Your day begins with a relaxed drive south-east from the city to Moonlit Sanctuary Wildlife Conservation Park, to meet endangered species, feed curious kangaroos and wallabies, and spot koalas tucked into the treetops while bright birds and reptiles move around you.

From there, you’ll continue towards Phillip Island, known for its rugged shoreline, motor racing history, and its endearing colony of Little Penguins. Depending on the season, you might pause at Woolamai Beach to watch surfers out on the breaks, then choose where to eat in Cowes during daylight-saving months or have dinner at the Penguin Parade Visitor Centre in winter. After browsing the Visitor Centre and following the boardwalk to the viewing area, you’ll watch the Little Penguins emerge from the surf and shuffle back to their burrows, a memorable moment that could easily become a favourite part of your trip.

Yarra Valley Wine Experience

Melbourne

Head out on a small-group trip to the Yarra Valley, usually with a dozen or so fellow travellers and never more than twenty-four, settling into a comfortable, air-conditioned bus for the ride out of Melbourne. The day is led by a wine expert who keeps things curious, relaxed, and decidedly unpretentious.

You’ll visit four premium cellars, each offering its own take on the valley’s wines and a chance to taste what sets them apart. Midway through the day, you’ll sit down to an à la carte lunch with a glass of estate wine, giving you space to pause, chat, and take in the valley’s atmosphere.

It’s all about switching off in this part of the world – we’ll take you to Australia’s poster child beach, Whitehaven, which is totally unmissable but otherwise it’s all up to you. You can mess around on the water, tee off or trek to Passage Peak or take it totally easy. The isle is your oyster. You could also add on an optional night at the Reefsleep for a night under the stars and over the Great Barrier Reef; this one-of-a-kind experience would up the holiday ante.

Along the way, your guide shares insider stories about the artists who perform here, the moments that shaped the building’s history, and the bold vision of architect Jørn Utzon, whose design came to life despite extraordinary challenges.
