African Queen Sundowner Cruise
Take in a spectacular sunset while floating down the Zambezi River aboard the African Queen, an elegant five-star river cruising vessel. During this wonderful cruise, you can relax with a cocktail out on deck and soak up the rugged charm of the surrounding wilderness, keeping your eyes peeled for crocodiles, hippos, elephants and birds in the last rays of fiery sunlight. With many of the animals here nocturnal, dusk is the perfect time to spot wildlife on the river banks.
Lady Livingstone River Sundowner Cruise
Enjoy a sundowner in style as your cruise along the might Zambezi River, with snacks and beverages included. As you await the sunset, look out for hippos, crocodile and graceful herons and the African Fish Eagle. You might also spot elephant, buffalo and antelope on the banks of the river. The Lady Livingstone departs from the David Livingstone Safari Lodge in Zambia.
Livingstone Island High Tea
Take high tea on the edge of the world – or at least it might feel that way. Perched on the precipice of Victoria Falls, Livingstone Island offers a unique viewpoint that surrounds you in rushing water as it makes its way over the waterfall's edge. Your guide will lead you to the best spots for photographs and those daring enough can take a swim in Devil's Pool, an infinity-style pool by the edge of the waterfall. Livingstone Island is open in August-March and Devil's Pool in September-December, however this can vary depending on water levels.
Royal Livingstone Express dinner run
Travel back in time on a vintage train ride with dramatic views of Victoria Falls as you sit down to a sumptuous six-course meal. Fully restored, the charming interior of the 1930s carriages will whisk you away to a time of finer things. The leisurely pace allows you to really take in the wondrous natural beauty of 'the Smoke that Thunders' as you cross the Victoria Falls bridge.
Tour of the Falls
Take in the majesty of Victoria Falls on a two-hour guided visit that will bring you face to face with the world’s largest waterfall. This extraordinary natural wonder was created over millions of years as the constant pounding of the mighty Zambezi River eroded what began as a narrow fissure in the basalt plain into what you see today, so its waters now plunge dramatically into a chasm around 75m wide and 108m deep.
Once through the entrance of the National Park, you’ll begin with a visit to the statue of Dr David Livingstone, where you’ll learn about his first encounter with the Falls, his reactions and his role in spreading its fame to the wider world. From here, you’ll continue along the path facing the Falls, stopping at the viewpoints along the way and, conditions permitting, descending the Chain Walk for a closer view of Devil’s Cataract and Cataract Island.
The spray from the Falls creates a unique ecosystem on the opposite side of the chasm, supporting a dense rainforest rich in plant, insect and animal life. As you walk through it, your guide will give you a brief explanation of how the Falls were formed along with pointing out some of the more interesting plants, birds and other points of interest. From the furthest point of the walk at Danger Point and Boiling Pot, you’ll retrace your footsteps or take a shortcut to pick up your transport for onward travel.
