 Abalone Guest Lodge

Chic and boutique

Stay in South Africa's whale-watching capital at Abalone Guest Lodge.

Abalone Guest Lodge is an intimate property located on Siever’s Point, between Hermanus town centre and its Blue Flag beaches. From the property, there is direct access to the coastal walking trail where, from June to November, you may be able to see whales and dolphins splashing in the water. Hermanus is one of the few places in the world where you can experience land-based whale watching.

Start your day with a delicious breakfast, keeping an eye on the ocean in case a southern right whale decides to breach. After exploring the area, Abalone’s wellness centre is the place to unwind and where you may wish to try one of the many tempting treatments.

Why we love Abalone Guest Lodge

  • You may be lucky to spot whales breaching from your balcony

  • The guest lodge showcases work from local artists

  • You have direct access to the scenic cliff path which leads to Siever’s Point, a top whale watching spot

  • Outside of whale watching season you can explore Ferncliff Nature Reserve and take tours of the nearby boutique vineyards
