Safari & the Seychelles
Plains to Palms

This holiday has both natural beauty and wildlife in abundance. Begin on Kenya’s big cat-rich plains before heading to the Seychelles to island hop on an exclusive superyacht with Emerald Yacht Cruises.
Emerald’s boutique yachts are small enough to anchor where bigger ships can’t, but spacious enough for all 128 guests to feel like they’ve got plenty of room to spare on board. The service is second to none and every crew member is there to make sure you have the voyage of a lifetime. One of our favourite places on board is the Marina Platform where you can make the most of all the aqua toys in some of the world’s most scenic spots.
Itinerary overview
Trip notes
Before your cruise
It’s all about big cats and the Big Five on our much-loved Governors’ Safari. Explore two of Kenya’s Great Rift Valley lakes, a haven for colourful birdlife and endangered black rhino. Then fly across rolling plains to a luxury tented camp in the unparalleled Maasai Mara. Once reserved for Kenya’s colonial governors, it’s now the realm of the world’s most spectacular wildlife.

Trip notes
Island hopping
The joy of the Seychelles comes in part from the diverse nature of its islands. On this island-to-islet voyage, you can see six islands in just one holiday – more than you’d ever get to see on a one or two-stop beach holiday. As well as the ‘big three’ (Mahé, Praslin and La Digue), you’ll hop to a trio of lesser-visited spots: Cousin, Curieuse and Aride. It’s the best of both worlds.

Trip notes
It’s all included
Alongside the culinary adventure of dreams from breakfast to dinner at La Cucina Dining & Terrace, all-day drinks, and your minibar being restocked every day, there are included experiences led by expert local guides. These fall under EmeraldPLUS, which have an destination immersion focus and EmeraldACTIVE, which will get your legs moving and your heart pumping.

Trip notes
After your cruise
We’ve tagged on a few more days by the beach on Mahé to round out your holiday. We’ve picked the five star Constance Ephelia Seychelles, which has one of the best settings on the island. There are two beaches to pick between and acres of space to get lost with a good book in. Add one of the largest spas in the Indian Ocean and you’ll feel as if you’ve found yourself in paradise.

Day 1
Nairobi, Kenya
Welcome to Kenya and our classic seven-day Governors’ Safari.

Days 2 to 3
Lake Naivasha, Kenya
The first stop is Loldia House, an original farmhouse on a private 6,500-acre farm. It couldn’t be better placed to see the surrounding lakes, mountains and wildlife if it tried. You’ll head over to Lake Nakuru on a full-day included trip. Pure safari bliss.

Days 4 to 6
Maasai Mara, Kenya
Hop by air over to the Musiara airstrip, the gateway to the iconic Governors’ Camp. The Maasai Mara is Big Five central and over the next couple of days, you’ll head out on multiple game drives to tick as many of them off as possible. To metaphorically and literally elevate your holiday even more, go for an optional Maasai Mara hot-air balloon safari.

Day 7
Nairobi, Kenya
It’s back to Nairobi for your flight to the Seychelles.

Day 7
Mahé, Seychelles
Arrive in Mahé in the Seychelles where you’ll meet your luxury yacht.

Day 8
Sainte Anne Channel & Cousin, Seychelles
Sail around Sainte Anne Island and keep an eye out for Hawksbill turtles before continuing north to Cousin. This small speck of an island is a nature reserve that’s famed for its seabirds.
Day 9
Praslin, Seychelles
Explore the archipelago’s second largest island. Anse Lazio with its granite boulders is a Seychelles poster-child beach and then there’s the dense palm forest of the Vallée de Mai Nature Reserve.

Day 10
La Digue, Seychelles
Set sail for La Digue, another hot spot for beach lovers. This time it’s the pink-toned Anse Source d’Argent that takes the limelight and your attention. Later in the day, set off towards Curieuse Island.

Day 11
Curieuse, Seychelles
The bijou Curieuse and its 300-strong population of Aldabra tortoises are the focus today.

Day 12
Aride, Seychelles
Sitting out to the north of its fellow granite islands, this petite island is one for the birders and nature lovers. Its pristine state is a testament to the positives of low-impact tourism – you can only visit on a guided tour, following the mile and a half walking trail.

Days 13 to 14
Mahé, Seychelles
It’s time to head back to Mahé, but you’ve still got a full day for urban explorations in the capital Victoria or jungle wanders in Morne Seychellois National Park.

Days 14 to 17
Mahé beach stay, Seychelles
It’s a short trip from the port to your beaut of beach retreat, Constance Ephelia Seychelles.

Day 18
Mahé, Seychelles
That’s a wrap on island time so transfer to the airport for your journey home.
