Right on the Khwai River, where Botswana’s wildlife moves past day and night.
Sediba sa Rona sits on the Khwai River in Botswana’s wildlife‑rich Khwai Concession, positioned where river, floodplain and woodland meet. This is prime big‑game territory, with lion, leopard, wild dog, buffalo and even hyena regularly moving through the area, alongside frequent sightings of Verreaux’s eagle owl around camp.
The riverside setting creates a sense of constant activity, with wildlife often visible from the lodge itself as well as on drives — meaning rewarding sightings without long distances. The camp is small and personal, centred around a main lodge that opens onto the water, with a well‑placed pool for downtime between activities. It balances immersive safari experiences with a comfortable base that still feels true to its surroundings.
Why we love Sediba sa Rona
-
The Khwai River setting naturally attracts wildlife, so there’s often plenty happening without having to go looking for it
-
You can mix up your days with game drives, mokoro excursions and night drives — all giving a slightly different take on the Delta
-
The main area is designed for lingering, with the pool, deck and firepit all looking out over the river
-
With the exception of a few add‑ons like helicopter flights, it’s fully inclusive, making it easy to settle in and enjoy the experience without thinking about extras
Rooms
There are 15 safari suites, two of which can be booked as interleading for those wanting to share the experience. Each has a private deck facing the river, so you’ve always got a view straight from your room. Inside, suites are thoughtfully arranged with proper beds, en‑suite bathrooms with indoor showers, fans rather than air conditioning, and small details like tea and coffee stations.
Facilities
Dining at Sediba sa Rona follows the natural rhythm of safari life, with early breakfasts before morning game drives, relaxed lunches back at camp and sociable dinners in the main dining area. The atmosphere is informal and welcoming, with communal dining reflecting a sense of connection and shared experience, while private dining can be arranged on request.
All meals, along with a selection of drinks including local wines and spirits, are included, making it easy to settle in without thinking about logistics.
What's Included
• fully inclusive of all meals (breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner) • scheduled safari activities • park fees • local drinks (including alcoholic beverages, excluding premium brands).
Views stretch effortlessly from the pool, bar and main decks out across the Khwai River, creating a constant connection to the landscape. A raised boardwalk leads to the open‑air fire deck — a natural gathering spot for early morning coffee, evening drinks and stargazing after dark. There’s also a small curio shop filled with locally crafted pieces, and a welcoming spa that offers a quiet space to unwind between safari activities.
Game drives head out into the Khwai Concession, an area known for strong wildlife densities, particularly along the river. Night drives offer a completely different perspective after dark, while mokoro excursions provide a quieter, slower way to experience the water. Birdlife is especially rewarding in the green season when migratory species arrive. It’s a varied mix that works well over a few days without feeling repetitive.
The camp runs on solar power and uses a reverse osmosis system to provide safe drinking water, reducing reliance on bottled supplies, and keeping things lighter on the environment. Furthermore, it supports sustainable development, community ownership, and local employment with Desert & Delta Safaris’ responsible tourism model as its foundation.
Children over six are welcome, and the interleading safari suites make it a practical option for those travelling together. The variety of activities helps keep days engaging without the need for over‑planning, which suits families wanting a relaxed safari experience.
