This hotel overlooks a superb stretch of sand and is the ideal family-friendly retreat. A few minutes’ walk in one direction will take you to the lively town centre, the other to the upmarket marina where you’ll find great restaurants and cafés. However, there’s more than enough to keep you occupied within the hotel. As well as a great range of facilities and places to eat and drink, the crowning jewel is the amazing Kikoland, a complex aimed at families with entertainers, pools, playgrounds and a snack bar. There’s a choice of eight restaurants – four of which are à la carte, offering everything from tapas, Japanese and Italian, as well as Mexican, international and Italian buffets. Enjoy a meal at the gourmet Isla de Lobos; it has a relaxed atmosphere and uses local produce and techniques to create mouth-watering meals. Rooms and Suites have a wonderful colonial Canarian style and Superior Rooms have garden, pool or sea views. Families have a choice of suites, from the Junior Suites Sea View, up to the more spacious Suites. Relax Sea View Rooms and Relax Suites are exclusively for adults, perfect for a more laid-back stay with an à la carte breakfast, daily thermal circuit at the Thalasso centre and daily aromatherapy.
Step foot into this welcoming resort and you’ll be greeted with a magnificent candlelit entrance hall modelled on a church from Teguise. There’s a tranquil lobby with beautiful foliage and a pretty waterfall set within a huge dome resembling a volcano. Low-rise white-washed buildings are scattered throughout extensive gardens with beautiful pools, courtyards and terraces. There are daily activity and entertainment programmes, and youngsters can enjoy baking, painting and pool games at the kids’ club. There are three restaurants within the resort – you could begin your day with a glass of cava and fresh omelettes at La Florida Buffet, before enjoying an à la carte lunch at Spanish restaurant, Tasca Yaiza, or à la carte dinner at Rubicón, the Italian restaurant, five nights a week. There are a number of restaurants to choose from at the Marina Rubicón which can be accessed through the hotel’s pool area. The Marina also has shops, bars, a gallery and watersports. The charming Mediterranean-style rooms are in 20 traditional houses and each has a soothing palette of blue, a living area, free Wi-Fi and a balcony or terrace. Standard Garden View Rooms have pool or garden views while Standard Sea View Rooms overlook the yachting harbour and have partial ocean views. For an indulgent stay, book one of the tranquil adults-only Club Volcán Rooms and enjoy access to an exclusive breakfast area, private terrace with views over the islands of Lobos and Fuerteventura, heated pool with pool bar and a Jacuzzi. Junior Suites are large while Suites are even more spacious with a living room and expansive terrace or balcony.
Overlooking the ocean, with fabulous views from many of the rooms, Secrets Lanzarote is a tranquil and grown-up hideaway in Puerto Calero, 10 minutes stroll from the marina with its chic bars, boutiques and restaurants. The architecture is clean-cut and modern, with low-rise whitewashed buildings punctuated by towering palm trees arranged in terraces down to the pool area and the sea beyond - and it all feels pleasantly luxurious in a sophisticated low-key fashion. Add to this a range of carefully curated facilities that means you don’t need to go anywhere else if you don’t want to and it’s clear why Secrets Lanzarote is already proving such a popular “flop and drop” option. On the food and drink front, the options are perfectly judged; there’s everything from classic Italian cuisine and sushi with sea views to a seafood grill and a beach bar with a fine line in cocktails. There are four beautifully designed outdoor pools, and more watery delights in the spa in the form of a dynamic indoor pool with neck and lumbar jets. That’s not all the wellness centre has to offer; it contains a thermal suite that includes a Turkish bath, a beauty centre with a tempting list of face and body treatments, and even a hairdresser. And for anyone with an urge to explore beyond the hotel, there’s a diving centre for underwater adventures, bicycles to hire and excursions to beaches and volcanoes. The 335 bright and airy rooms and suites are decorated in neutral colours and have large modern bathrooms and a terrace or balcony. Upgrade from a Standard to a Standard Pool View, Standard Ocean View to wake up looking out over the water. If you’re looking for more space to sit and relax, opt for a Junior Suite Ocean View Preferred Club or Suite Ocean View Preferred Club; the second is large enough for a separate living room. If you choose either of these Suites, or one of the smaller Standard Rooms in the Preferred Club section, you’ll receive a host special extras such as continental breakfast and afternoon snacks served in the exclusive Preferred Club Lounge and access to a private solarium and pool.
H10 Rubicón Palace looks like a chunk of Caribbean has floated across the Atlantic and anchored itself on the southern shores of Lanzarote. Imagine lush palm-strewn gardens wrapping around a cluster of white-washed buildings, interspersed with a smattering of candy-coloured façades, and a handful of gleaming pools. And this seafront big-hitter certainly has the same intoxicating vibe as the archipelago on the other side of the ocean. However, an otherworldly backdrop of the rust-red Montaña Roja volcano roots Lanzarote’s largest hotel in place. Interiors are classic meets Art Deco, with an emphasis on Canarian colours – think palm green, lava black and stone white. This village-style complex ticks all the good-time boxes – a total of 14 restaurants and bars including the Bistro Bar with healthy snacks, Mike’s Coffee and a food truck, a thalassotherapy spa, lush gardens, eight pools, and even schooner boats moored in swimming pools. While this lagoon-style centrepiece is aimed more at adults, kids are more than catered for, with three children’s pools – one arranged around a life-size pirate ship with water slides. Throw in a jam-packed evening entertainment programme, and you won’t even have to leave the resort if you don’t want to. And if you do, you’re a half-hour walk from Playa Flamingo and a 20-minute drive from the Martian-like landscapes of Timanfaya National Park. Rooms are splashed in crisp shades of cream and white, with monochrome accents and teal bursts. Book a Standard Double Balcony or Terrace Room for garden views, or go all out on a Standard Junior Suite Balcony or Terrace for glorious sea panoramas and a slice more space.
