Enjoyed our stay!
We enjoyed our stay! The staff is very kind and helpful! Nothing is asked to much, both for restaurant staff as for front desk staff. Rooms are clean with good a/c. Only negative side: wifi is pretty bad in the room on the phone, on laptop is worked quite well.
Very nice hotel, central location.
Very nice hotel. Staff are friendly and helpful. It’s in a very good central location. Near the main square 15 minute walk, also the main beautiful park, and the Tutticcio Spa Baths which are stunning. The hotel also has a pool which was perfect for chilling and relaxing as we were here in the heatwave over 34c every day. Down the road 2/3 Aperitivo bars perfect for starting your night out. The only down side the rooms are a little dark as it was difficult to open the shutters so hardly any natural daylight. On the whole I would recommend it.
Good but noisy
We stayed here for a week as part of a group tour. Montecatini Terme is a good base for visiting Tuscany. The good: The hotel is very clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast is OK but they tend to run out of things when they’re very busy. Our room was spacious and well appointed. The not so good: We found it very noisy. Our room was at the front of the building overlooking a restaurant next door. Even with windows closed and the a/c running we could hear every loud conversation (hey, it’s Italy) until late at night. Very early in the morning we were awakened by loud garbage collection, bottles being dumped into a bin etc. The wifi is not too bad in the lobby but useless in the rooms. We found the floor of our shower dangerously slippery.
Beyond it’s prime.
Central location if one desires to visit other places in Tuscany. Front staff and every staff were superb, always ready to help, provide advice. This hotel is, unfortunately, past it’s prime. Rooms are generally small and could use a bit freshening up. The WiFi is so slow, that is not useable. The breakfast menu is rather monotonous and lacks imagination. Bar next door generates a fair bit of noise. Especially when they decide to discard their empty bottles - the noise would wake up dead (sometimes they like to do it at 5 am, or earlier). There are great restaurants near by. Again, the fantastic staff makes up for a lot of shortcomings, but the owner should invest into the hotel itself as well!
Not so great, despite some charm.
The town itself is wonderful, quite charming with plenty of places to eat. The hotel itself, however, is a bit of a throwback. Pros: Well situated. Good sized room if you’re lucky, although that’s a bit of a lucky dip. We pretty much had the pool to ourself, but I imagine it become very busy in summer. A certain amount of old world charm. The majority of the staff are good. Cons: Fussy and old fashioned (not in a good way). Food pretty poor, whatever the hotel say about freshness. It’s much better to eat outside the hotel. Having to pay for pool towels, despite information in the room saying that one is free for the duration. A general penny pinching attitude, with a definite feeling of tiers between the guest experience. We were on a excursion, and felt very much like the poor relations. Overall, although the hotel has some charm I can’t recommend it. I’ve also noticed that when the hotel replies to mildly critical reviews it’s in a very defensive way.
