The Lodge at Gulf State Park, A Hilton Hotel

End of the road bliss

After time on the road, this is where your shoulders drop and you let out a satisfied ‘aahhh’. Step out onto the boardwalk, feel the Gulf air hit your skin, and suddenly, there’s nowhere else you need to be.

The Lodge at Gulf State Park is the kind of place you plan to do very little and love every last minute of it. It’s an ideal location to plan a relaxing interlude on a Deep South road trip, spending time inside a protected coastal park that feels open and spacious in a way that is rare for a beach stay. Instead of a strip of hotels and shops, you’ll find yourself surrounded by dunes and pine forest and overlooking a long stretch of coastline.

Why we love The Lodge at Gulf State Park, A Hilton Hotel

  • The setting is the real draw, with a wide, uncrowded stretch of beach that invites long walks, especially in the quieter hours of the day.

  • It feels open and unfussy, designed to sit lightly in the landscape rather than compete with it, so the view is always sand, sea, and sky.

  • Food is relaxed and coastal in spirit, with fresh Gulf flavours, casual poolside options, and places to sit and watch the light change while relaxing dinners always seem to stretch a little longer than planned.

  • Rooms are calm and comfortable, built for slowing down, with plenty of light and simple touches that make it easy to switch off.

Facilities

  • Restaurants & bars
  • Spas & wellness
  • Diving & Watersports

Expect plenty of Gulf seafood and simple flavours. There is a casual option for coffee, lunches, and post-swim snacks, plus a main restaurant that works well for long, lazy dinners. As the day cools, people naturally gather outside with a drink and watch the light change over the water.

Foodcraft
A relaxed seaside restaurant with seasonal, locally inspired dishes and broad views of the Gulf, perfect for breakfast, lunch, or a sunset dinner by the water.

Perch
A terrace bar and steak and seafood restaurant with Gulf Coast sunsets and light breezes.

Roasted Oak Coffee and Wine
A bright coffee and wine bar serving morning brews, light bites, and artisan wines with indoor and outdoor seating that suits any part of the day.

The Dragonfly Pool Bar & Grill
A seasonal poolside grill and bar offering casual beach-friendly meals and cold drinks when the sun is high and the sand is calling.

Woodside
A relaxed, park-side favourite just minutes from the lodge, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a mix of classic comfort food, cold drinks, live music, and outdoor games that make it feel like a local hangout as much as a place to grab a meal.

Keeping active is far more about what you do in the resort’s natural surrounding than a gym (although there’s one of those, too). Walking on the beach adds up quickly because the sand is easy underfoot and the wider park has well-marked bike paths if you want a longer loop. The outdoor pool is ideal for easing into the afternoon heat.

The wider state park offers rentals for kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards on nearby lakes and calm waterways. You can also head to the beach for more open-water activities, all close enough to dip into for an hour or an afternoon.
