Elyton Hotel, Autograph Collection
Downtown with character
Treat yourself to one of Birmingham’s smartest hotels, in a location that drops you right in the middle of the city’s past and present.
Elyton Hotel sits inside the former Empire Building, a 16-story landmark from the early twentieth century that once symbolised Birmingham’s industrial confidence. The exterior and lobby still retain that sense of history, but the guest rooms feel far more modern. And while a part of you might hanker for a little Art Deco chicness, all is forgiven beneath a powerful shower stocked with posh bathroom products, then cosying up in a monogrammed robe and slippers, ready to catch up on the latest drop from Netflix on the smart TV.
Why we love Elyton Hotel, Autograph Collection
-
High ceilings and original architectural details give the hotel a feeling of substance, while the interiors bring everything up to date.
-
Service is polished and professional without feeling formal, and the overall stay sits firmly in the premium category.
-
A rooftop bar with wide city views that turns an ordinary evening into something you plan around.
-
A genuinely walkable location puts civil rights landmarks, museums, parks and some of the city’s best food within easy reach.
Facilities
The Yard serves Southern influenced dishes with a modern approach, using local ingredients and flavours that feel rooted rather than nostalgic. It works well for a proper dinner when you want to stay close but still feel like you’ve eaten somewhere worthwhile. Upstairs, Moon Shine is the hotel’s rooftop bar and a highlight in its own right.
The Yard
On the ground floor, the courtyard space feels relaxed and welcoming, with casual Southern dishes and drinks that work just as well for a light bite as a long, unhurried evening.
Moon Shine
Up on the roof, the 16th floor bar and restaurant pair city views with expertly mixed drinks and polished Southern cooking, making it one of the best places in town to watch the skyline shift from day to night.
The Iron Horse gym is a well-equipped workout space with modern cardio and strength machines, plus free weights.
