 The St James of Knysna

Understated luxury with a waterside setting

Stay in the natural paradise of Knysna. This tranquil haven is a great base for your Garden Route explorations..

When a strip of lush green grass is all that sits between The St James of Knysna and the tranquil shores of Knysna Lagoon you know you are in for a treat. Two pools, a large Koi pond and a private jetty make up the grounds that look out to the dramatic Knysna Heads. This is the kind of place where you can do as much or as little as you want. Knysna's Waterfront is just a short hop on the hotel's shuttle, there are world-class golf courses nearby, or you may prefer to enjoy the tranquil gardens whilst absorbing the mesmerising lagoon views.

Described as nature's Eden, Knysna has plenty to offer the visitor. You can explore the boutique shops and curio shops at the Waterfront, watch the boats come and go in the marina or relax and watch the sun set over the water. Hike or cycle through Knynsa Forest or head to one of the nearby beaches.

You are just steps from Knysna lagoon which you can explore by canoe, kite boarding or on the hotel's boat.

The St James of Knysna uses solar power, has reduced the need for single-use plastics and has planted indigenous flora which use very little water. Any kitchen waste is redistributed to local farmers to help fertilise their soil and they support The Sweetheart Foundation which supplies wheelchairs to people in need.

The St James is only a few minutes’ drive from Knysna’s three championship golf courses at Pezula, Simola and Knysna Golf Club. If you want to practice your putting skills, Green Tee is an astro-turf five hole putting green set in the hotel's gardens.
