Situated on a rugged seaside cliff and surrounded by 67 acres of lush gardens, The Leela Kovalam has far-reaching views of the Arabian Sea.
Designed by renowned Indian architect Charles Correa, the Leela Kovalam offers an extensive range of luxurious facilities beneath its red-tiled roofs and white-washed buildings. Cooking lessons with the chef, snorkelling coral reefs, backwater cruises or a game of archery in the grounds are just some of the activities on offer. You may prefer to take things at a slower pace, perhaps unwinding with a yoga session, followed by an Ayurvedic spa treatment before deciding which of the three swimming pools to cool off in. Evenings are spent catching a Keralan sunset, watching the lighting of the diyas, savouring the catch of the day pan-fried in Keralan spices followed by a spot of jazz in the bar.

Facilities
There’s an excellent range of dining facilities here. The Terrace serves guests throughout the day whilst The Tides is the seafood specialty restaurant. The Bistro will keep you replenished pool side whilst The Sky Bar and Jazz & Blues offer a range of drinks and light snacks.

Overlooking the Arabian Sea, The Terrace is the resort’s main restaurant serving international favourites alongside Indian classic dishes.

What's Included

At the Ayurvedic Centre there is a yoga and meditation pavilion with daily sessions for guests. In the twelve treatment rooms, therapies, based on ancient Indian traditions, have been designed to rejuvenate, de-stress and detox. There is also a gym equipped with the latest equipment.
Take a walk along the sandy beach to the lighthouse or explore the lively Chalai market, the oldest in Kerala. At the resort, you can join a cooking lesson with the chef, learn how to make cocktails with the mixologist or have a game of badminton, beach volleyball or billiards.
The resort can arrange snorkelling and diving on Kovalam coral reefs, speedboat rides on Poovar Beach and backwater cruises.
The Leela Group uses smart energy management systems to minimise energy consumption whilst ensuring guest comfort. They are a member of the Alliance for Water Stewardship and support communities by sourcing products locally. The Leela Kovalam resort boasts five acres of organic vegetable gardens Aaramam which guests can visit.
Please note on the first day of every month, under local government guidelines, alcohol cannot be served.
