A fresh take on the Italian beach holiday, blending nature, solid sustainability credentials, and local flavour.
Set on the unspoilt Bolgheri Coast in Tuscany’s Maremma region, The Sense Experience Resort offers an easy-going style of modern luxury on a pine-backed swathe of sand. The resort features 112 sleek rooms, a panoramic pool, electric bike hire, and two restaurants that give Tuscan cuisine a modern kick. A real highlight is its private beach, tucked beside the crystal-clear waters of Torre Mozza, which feels like a secret spot you might feel inclined to keep all to yourself. Follonica is just a short drive away for a change of pace, with gelato shops, beach clubs, boutiques, and a palm-lined promenade, and Pisa isn’t out of the question for a day trip either.
Why we love The Sense Experience
-
Wake up to the sound of waves and the scent of pine drifting through your window, with rooms close enough to the beach that nature is your alarm clock.
-
Swim straight into the morning from the resort’s stretch of shoreline, where the sea is calm, clear, and perfect before the world wakes up.
-
Book dinner at Eaté, the resort’s fine dining spot, where locals in the know come for the creative seafood and the sea views steal the show.
-
Cycle the coastal trails on an e-bike from the resort and explore hidden coves and medieval villages without barely breaking a sweat.
Rooms
The rooms at The Sense Experience Resort are calm, coastal-inspired spaces with soft colours, natural wood, and stone that echo the landscape outside. Love a sea view? Go for a Superior Sea View and soak up the Gulf of Follonica from bed. Fancy a bit more space? The Deluxe Doubles come with two queen beds, perfect for young families. For peace and privacy, the Comfort Rooms with a garden or balcony are ideal for slow mornings and sunny aperitivi.

The Sense Experience Resort proves that sustainability and style can go hand in hand. Over 90% of its drinking water comes from on-site desalination, and clever systems reuse rainwater and pool water to keep the gardens thriving. Among a whole raft of wide-ranging measures, the team has planted more than 7,000 native shrubs to restore the dunes, creating a landscape that looks good and does good. In the restaurants, local produce and compostable tableware are the norm, and over 70% of waste is sorted and recycled.
