 Mangia’s Pollina Resort

Clifftop Sicily

Perched on a pine-covered promontory between Cefalù and the Madonie mountains, Mangia’s Pollina Resort delivers one of the most dramatic vantage points on Sicily’s north coast.

Mangia’s Pollina Resort sits on a rocky headland on Sicily’s northern coastline near the village of Pollina, surrounded by roughly 40 hectares of Mediterranean parkland and overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea. The setting is defined by pine forest, rugged cliffs, and wide-open water views that on clear days stretch as far as the Aeolian Islands on the horizon. Rather than a single large hotel building, the resort spreads across the hillside in a series of low-rise accommodation blocks linked by terraces, gardens and winding paths that step down through the landscape. The layout gives the whole place the feel of a small seaside village built into the cliffside rather than a conventional resort. Lifts and footpaths run through the rock down to the water below, while the upper levels are given over to pools, restaurants and panoramic terraces that make the most of the surrounding coastline.

Why we love Mangia’s Pollina Resort

  • The resort occupies a spectacular promontory on Sicily’s north coast, surrounded by pine forest and cliffs with uninterrupted views across the Tyrrhenian Sea.

  • Reaching the water involves lifts and pathways descending through the cliffs to the beach area below, which makes every swim feel slightly more adventurous than usual.

  • There is a lively Mediterranean resort atmosphere with sports courts, organised activities and evening entertainment continuing well after sunset.

  • Cefalù sits around fifteen minutes away by car, making it easy to spend an afternoon wandering medieval streets before returning to the quiet of the headland.

Two outdoor swimming pools sit on the resort’s terraces overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, including a pool that frames the coastline and the open water beyond. Around the pools there are large sun terraces and shaded areas beneath the surrounding pine trees that provide space to relax throughout the day. If you’re looking for more activity, you’ll find an indoor gym along with tennis courts, padel courts and football pitches across the resort grounds. Organised sessions such as yoga, stretching and group fitness classes are held during the week and often take place outdoors on terraces facing the sea.

The clear water along this stretch of coastline makes the area particularly well suited to swimming and light watersports. The rocky bay and transparent water also make the area a good spot for snorkelling, particularly during the early morning when the sea is calm and visibility is at its clearest.

Families tend to settle in quickly thanks to the amount of space across the resort and the range of facilities designed for younger guests. A kids club runs supervised activities during the day while a separate Junior Club programme is aimed at teenagers, giving younger travellers their own schedule of sports, games, and social activities. Facilities include playgrounds, outdoor games areas, sports courts and a children’s pool with slides, while organised entertainment ranges from sports competitions and creative workshops to evening shows. Restaurants also offer straightforward buffet options that make family meals easy to manage.
