 Grand Hotel et Des Palmes

Palermo’s Belle-Époque showstopper

In the heart of Palermo, just a short stroll from Teatro Massimo, this historic hotel blends Belle-Époque elegance with a confident modern revival.

Grand Hotel et Des Palmes is the sort of place where you half expect someone in evening dress to sweep past on the staircase. Marble floors gleam, ceilings are suitably ornate, and the whole building carries the easy confidence of a hotel that has been doing this since the 19th century. The recent restoration has polished things up without scrubbing away the history, so it still feels properly grand rather than self-consciously stylish. Step outside and Palermo is right there: Teatro Massimo is a few minutes away, historic streets fan out in every direction, and the city’s excellent restaurants provide plenty of excuses to wander late into the evening.

Why we love Grand Hotel et Des Palmes

  • Stay in a beautifully restored Belle Époque landmark that still feels connected to Palermo’s cultural history.

  • Its central location places the city’s theatres, historic streets and restaurants within easy walking distance.

  • The rooftop restaurant and mixology bar add a dash of modern glamour (and excellent sunset cocktails).

  • It manages to feel grand without feeling intimidating — always a useful trick in a historic hotel.
