Moon Palace The Grand Cancun is the most indulgent of the three resorts - still fun, still easy, just with a little extra pizzazz and a satisfying whiff of exclusivity.
Moon Palace The Grand Cancun is the top-tier section within the Moon Palace Cancun resort, offering a more space, privacy, and variety while keeping the same friendly, all-inclusive spirit that makes Moon Palace so popular. It’s home to no fewer than nine swimming pools, its own magnificent water park, bowling alley, O Spa, and an impressive line-up of restaurants and bars. Staying here also means you can use everything across the two other Moon Palace hotels, although you’ll probably find you have everything you need right at your fingertips at The Grand.
Why we love Moon Palace The Grand Cancun
-
It’s part of Moon Palace but feels like its own world, with more space, more choice, and an easy-going sense of luxury.
-
The water park is a stand-out highlight, big enough to keep kids (and most adults) entertained all day, complete with lazy river, slides, and a wave simulator.
-
Dining feels elevated, and the choice is seriously plentiful, with restaurants that are worth dressing up for if you fancy it.
-
The impressive and whimsical kids facilities for ages 4-12 go above and beyond, featuring bumper cars, a laser maze challenge in a vast complex of exciting play areas.
Holidays with a little extra 'wow'
Rooms
Suites at The Grand feel traditionally indulgent, with gleaming floors, polished wood accents, whirlpool tubs, and terraces that look over the gardens or pools. Swim-up suites are a favourite for couples and older families, while Family Suites link two rooms for more space and privacy and come with some thoughtful extras for kids, like dedicated bathroom amenities and robes and games consoles on request. All include premium drinks, snacks, and 24-hour room service.
Facilities
Food is a strong suit here. The Grand’s restaurants cover a global mix — Italian, Lebanese, Asian, steakhouse, and more — all part of the all-inclusive plan. The quality is consistently good, and there’s no need to book far in advance. Drinks are premium, service is sharp, and there’s a good mix of lively bars and quieter lounges. It’s handy to know that you can eat and drink anywhere across Moon Palace Cancun – bringing your total number of options to 25 – but most people find plenty to keep them happy at The Grand.

Inside The Grand you’ll find the extensive wellness retreat, O Spa. This isn’t your quick pre-dinner massage stop, but a serious spa with a full hydrotherapy circuit including steam rooms, saunas, plunge pools and cascading waterfalls. Treatments range from deep-tissue massages to botanical rituals and couples sessions. The fitness studio sits nearby, fully equipped and ready for anything from yoga to strength training.
There’s mini golf tucked among the palms, a bowling alley, chocolate tasting, an arcade for competitive types, and a steady line-up of poolside games, Vegas-style shows, theme parties, live music. When you want a change of scene, you can wander or grab a golf cart to Nizuc or Sunrise for extra restaurants, bars, and beach time, then head back to The Grand for quieter evenings.
Non-motorised options like kayaking and paddleboards along the beach are included in your stay are.
The resort group treats and reuses most of its water for landscaping, uses solar panels to generate part of its electricity, and runs a coastal-management system that protects the beach and nearby mangroves. Wider initiatives also include reducing single-use plastics and landscaping with native plants to lower water and waste use.
The Grand’s Playroom is exclusive to this part of Moon Palace and is enormous, with soft play zones, climbing structures, mini racetracks, and creative workshops that keep children busy for hours. Teenagers gravitate towards the Wired Lounge, a slick hang-out space with consoles, air hockey, and arcade games. The Family Suites add extra space and connect two bedrooms, and the water park works for every age, from toddlers to teens. Families based at The Grand can also use the facilities in the other Moon Palace resorts, but those staying there can’t access the Playroom or water park here — a perk that helps keep things pleasantly uncrowded.
