This hidden gem borders Tarangire National Park and is perfect for those looking for a small and genuine safari lodge.
Kirurumu Tarangire Lodge overlooks a seasonal flood plain where elephants often gather. Start your day with tea or coffee delivered to your room before heading out on a game drive or taking part in the Ethno-Botanical Walk to the local Maasai community. Watch ‘Bush TV’ from your veranda before joining other guests around the fire for pre-dinner drinks. The friendly staff make the whole experience at Kirurumu extra special.
Why we love Kirurumu Tarangire Lodge
-
There are no fences between the concession and Tarangire National Park so animals often can be seen around the camp
-
The camp works very closely with and supports the local Maasai community
-
The lodge’s location is easily combined with a stay at Lake Manyara or Ngorongoro
-
We love the camp’s ‘Bush TV’ concept, where you can sit on the veranda and listen to the sounds of nature
Rooms
There are just 11 simply furnished Tented Cottages in this intimate lodge. Each has a private veranda, perfect for wildlife spotting.
Facilities
Meals are served buffet-style in the main dining area. In the evening, gather around the fire for pre-dinner sundowners.
What's Included
All meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner), house wine, local beer, soft drinks and local spirits, teas and coffee, daily game drives, guided walks, tourism levy and park fee.

As well as game drives, guests can visit the local Maasai Community and learn about their daily life. Enroute to the boma* you will experience the Ethno-Botanical Walk where you will learn about the area’s local flora and fauna (please note the Boma Visit, which is an extra charge, and the Ethno botanical walk are two separate experiences). Day treks, mountain biking and night game drives can be arranged in Randilen Conservancy for an extra charge.
Solar power is used to heat the water in the rooms and food is sourced locally. The lodge works very closely with the local Maasai Community, providing safe and clean water, supporting nearby schools and clinics and creating employment opportunities. Through education programmes they help the community coexist with wildlife.
This is a good value choice for families, and the Family Tented Cottages are interconnected. The guiding here is suitable for all ages and the staff love educating children on the wildlife and surrounding habitats.
Wi-Fi is available in a central designated area only.
