 Lemala Osonjoi Lodge

Far from the madding crowds

Named after the Osonjoi trees that are found in the surrounding area, this latest addition to the Lemala portfolio has a prime location perched 8,000 feet overlooking the Ngorongoro Crater.

The eastern side of the crater is generally quieter and so, for the first hour of your morning safari and the last hour of the afternoon game drive, when the light is perfect, you can photograph the wildlife that live within this ancient caldera. Between safaris, there’s an indoor heated pool and a spa or we won’t judge if you wish to sneak away to the luxurious sanctuary of your Suite – it even has a hidden nook where you can read a book, enjoy a hot chocolate, glass of wine or even have a little snooze.

Why we love Lemala Osonjoi Lodge

  • Accessing the crater from the quieter eastern side, you have an hour's head start from the crowds for your morning safari

  • Within just 25 minutes of leaving the lodge, you can be on the crater floor surrounded by its abundant wildlife

  • The surrounding Osonjoi trees are medically significant and symbolic to the Maasai, learn more about them on a guided bush walk

  • Each Suite has a ‘nook’ - a secret sanctuary with a day bed, perfect for an afternoon siesta
