Grootbos Nature Reserve - Garden Lodge

The family lodge in the Cape floral kingdom

Grootbos Nature Reserve is located within 2,500 hectares of pristine wilderness and is a botanical paradise with 947 plant species identified.

The family-friendly Garden Lodge has been perfectly positioned to maximise the incredible coastline views from the Suites, restaurant and heated pool. There's so much to do here for all of the family, including interpretive walks through the ancient milkwood forests which form part of the Cape floral kingdom, cave explorations and coastal safaris along the beach. If you visit between June and November there's a good chance of seeing whales too, that, together with seals, sharks, penguins and dolphins, make up the marine Big Five.

Why we love Grootbos Nature Reserve - Garden Lodge

  • Flower and coastal safaris will bring you closer to this precious eco system

  • Dating back to the Stone Age, take a guided tour of the World Heritage Site of Klipgat Cave

  • Southern right whales can normally be seen here from June to November whether it’s from the coastal cliffs, on a boat ride or from a scenic flight

  • The Green Futures project has provided many students with horticultural skills to create sustainable jobs for the future
