The largest in the Thornybush Game Reserve, this lodge is offers a friendly option for families. It’s been carefully designed to ensure absolute comfort, with modern yet cosy communal areas that invite you to unwind after electrifying game drives. The therapists at the Thornybush Wellness will unknot tired muscles and there's a swimming pool to cool off when the day starts to heat up.

Rooms
From your luxurious air-conditioned Luxurious Suite, you can enjoy beautiful views from your private deck out across the riverine thicket or seasonal Monwana River, which changes with the passing of each season. Each suite features an en suite, extensive living area and indoor and outdoor showers. As well as the 16 suites at the lodge, Kamara House is perfect for families.
Facilities
Depending on your planned activities for the day, you can enjoy breakfast either at the camp, or gazing out across the riverbed or bush. Lunch is served at around 1.30pm after you’ve had time to recover from your exciting game drive and high tea is served before you embark on your evening safari. Dinner, in comparison, is a relatively grand affair, with a three-course meal served either in the outdoor boma, the lodge’s restaurant, or out in the bush.

Thornybush Wellness offers a range of treatments and beauty therapies. Guests can experience an infrared sauna which relieves tight muscles and improves circulation or cool off in the rim-flow pool.


Join Shangaan trackers as you head out on thrilling twice-daily game drives, embark on a bush walk with your guide or make a visit to Nourish Eco Village, one of a number of community projects supported by Thornybush.
Thornybush is a member of The Long Run, an association of nature based properties with a strong focus on sustainability.
During the day, the lodge is solar powered and Thornybush has a plastic-free policy. They support a number of community projects including a women's cooperative which grows herbs and vegetables and a Kids in Conservation programme which assists children in attaining their Scouts conservation badge.


Friendly and filled with passionate, personable staff, this lodge is ideal for a safari with kids. The dedicated Kamara House has two adjacent suites. A range of children’s activities is also available to keep the kids busy at the lodge including bush walks to learn how to track animals.
Children over 6 are welcome on game drives at Thornybush Game Lodge.
