Abelana River Lodge
An eco-lodge wih a community focus
Stretching along the banks of the Selati River, Abelana River Lodge is a luxurious wildlife retreat.
From its prime location on the banks of the Selati River, Abelana River Lodge is a haven for wildlife. The main area, infinity swimming pool and the private deck at your Suite maximise the river views and it's not uncommon to see hippos and crocodiles in the water. Morning and afternoon game drives and guided bush walks go in search of the Big Five and the many other species that inhabit this 15,000 hectare reserve which lies adjacent to Kruger National Park. In the evenings, gather by the fire pit and listen to the nocturnal sounds of nature whilst learning about the night sky constellations.
Why we love Abelana River Lodge
-
The riverine setting is a bird watcher's paradise with African fish eagles and thick-billed cuckoos just some of the species on the check list
-
The wildlife is not the only attraction here, the dramatic landscapes are captivating
-
The lodge supports the Mashishimale community with a number of eco-focused initiatives
-
After dinner, don't miss the opportunity for stargazing
Rooms
Each Suite is located under thatch. Inside, the rooms are air-conditioned with ceiling fans to keep you cool. Outside there is a large deck overlooking the river, perfect for bird watching between safari activities.
Facilities
Meals are served in a number of indoor and outdoor settings. There's a lounge and bar although most people love to gather in the evenings by the fire pit to share their safari experiences with other guests.
What's Included
All meals, light snacks, high tea, game drives, bush walk and community levy.
There are twice-daily game drives and there is also the chance to go on a guided bush walk (subject to availability). This is a great location for wildlife photography and stargazing.
