This traditional lodge provides a great base to go in search of Rwanda’s mountain gorillas.
Mountain Gorilla View Lodge is a charming, understated bolthole in a spectacular location just a short distance from the entrance to Volcanoes National Park. The ethos is very much local and low-impact, with single-storey thatched stone cottages made from materials from the surrounding area dotted around spacious leafy gardens filled with wildlife
The 40 spacious individual cottages are warm and welcoming, with a separate sitting area, open fireplace and eclectic décor in a colour scheme of rich, earthy oranges and browns. The menu in the cosy restaurant focuses on home-style cooking made with produce from nearby growers. There's a large inviting lounge made extra cosy with wood fires and a small fire pit with rustic seating for evening get-togethers. There’s even a nightly performance by a local dance troupe. All in all, Mountain Gorilla View Lodge is a delightful setting with incredible views from the grounds that could hold you spellbound for hours.
