Le Médina Essaouira Hotel Thalassa Sea & Spa - MGallery
Between souks and sea
A five-star seafront stay with a private beach, big pool, and Essaouira on foot
This is Essaouira with the comfort dial turned up. Le Medina is part of MGallery, Accor’s collection of characterful hotels shaped by their setting. Here, a large garden pool sits at the centre, there’s a private beach across the road, and the medina is close enough to wander into on foot. Essaouira blue, Mogador red, zellige, and locally crafted thuya wood bring the town into the interiors, while spacious rooms give you more room to settle in. Book a sea-facing room and the Atlantic comes right to your terrace, with Essaouira Bay spread out in front.
Why we love Le Médina Essaouira Hotel Thalassa Sea & Spa - MGallery
-
The private beach is just across the road and the medina is around a 10-minute walk away, so a morning on the sand and an afternoon among the galleries, souks, and ramparts fit easily into the same day.
-
The hotel’s beachfront restaurant, MBeach, gives the seafront setting a second act. A local fisherman delivers the morning catch, which arrives at the table as sea bass, lobster, and other Essaouira seafood, with the bay and Mogador Island in view.
-
The Sea View Superior Rooms make the location count, opening onto furnished terraces with panoramic views across Essaouira Bay.
-
The central pool is tucked into the hotel’s riad-inspired patio and sheltered from Essaouira’s famous Atlantic breeze. When the wind picks up along the beach, it’s a very appealing place to retreat to.
Rooms
The rooms keep the Moroccan references clean and contemporary, with zellige, thuya wood furniture made by local craftspeople, and colours borrowed from Essaouira itself. The categories are mainly about the view. Standard Rooms face the city, Pool View Superiors turn towards the hotel’s central pool, and Sea View Superiors put Essaouira Bay beyond a furnished terrace. Junior Suites add a dressing area and considerably more room, while Executive Suites bring in a separate lounge and sleep up to four.
Facilities
The Atlantic has a big say in what ends up on the table. MBeach serves locally landed fish and seafood overlooking the bay, breakfast mixes international favourites with Moroccan flavours, and daytime lunches can stay close to the pool. Later, Moroccan tea at La Scala or tapas and a glass of wine at MClub keep things easy when a full dinner isn’t on the cards.

The hotel’s beachfront restaurant, where a local fisherman delivers the morning catch. Expect Essaouira seafood and Mediterranean dishes, served on the terrace or down on the private beach with Mogador Island across the bay.
L’Arganier
Breakfast brings an international buffet alongside Moroccan flavours, local ingredients, and freshly made specialities. Look out for Moroccan pancakes with amlou, the almond, argan oil, and honey spread.
MPool
A daytime poolside spot for light lunches and drinks, surrounded by the hotel gardens.
MClub
An English-pub-inspired evening bar serving wines, champagne, aperitifs, digestifs, and tapas.

Le Medina follows Accor’s wider sustainability programme, while the hotel itself uses puse thuya wood made by Souiri craftspeople and traditional zellige in the rooms. The hotel partners with Essaouira’s major arts festivals, and dining draws on local produce and seafood landed locally.
This works particularly well for families who want Essaouira itself to be part of the holiday rather than staying in a resort outside town. The beach, medina, harbour, and pool are all close enough to switch between without building the day around taxis. The room set-up helps too: there are connecting rooms, Junior Suites sleep up to three, and Executive Suites up to four. Children’s menus are available.
