Think palm trees, sandy beaches and beautiful blue seas. Welcome to Diamonds Malindi.
Diamonds Malindi has been awarded Africa’s leading all-inclusive resort for two years in a row. Located on a stunning stretch of Malindi beach, the hotel features a range of room and suites. Naturally, the Indian Ocean is the main appeal. Activities include snorkelling trips around the marine park where you often see turtles, and catch and release marlin fishing. Away from the beach, you can delve into Swahili culture with a visit to Malindi Town or take a safari in Tsavo National Park. There's plenty of seafood available at the two restaurants and regular evening entertainment. With their own bee hives, turtle hatchery and organic garden, there's a strong focus on sustainability here too.
Why we love Diamonds Malindi
-
Nearby Malindi boasts plenty of heritage from the Omani Empire mixed with Swahili and Arab culture
-
Indulge in an African warm herbal oil massage at the Mvua African Rain Spa
-
A no plastic policy, organic farm and beehives are just some of the sustainability initiatives here
-
Beyond the beach, the huge Arabuko Sokoke Forest is nearby as is a safari in Tsavo National Park, the third largest park in Africa

The Mvua African Rain Spa offers treatments based on ancient African and Asian traditions. Mvua means rain in Swahili and in Africa rain means life and thus provides the concept behind the spa treatments. Ingredients for the treatments use botanicals, spices and wild honey. Facilities include a Turkish bath, saltwater and hydrotherapy pools.
Every day, the sports centre staff arrange a variety of activities including morning stretching, table tennis, beach volleyball and beach football. There's also regular evening entertainment.
Dependent on the season, the Blue Fin Dive Centre can arrange trips to a number of dive sites including Black Coral, Papa Point and Tewa. Catamaran and canoeing trips can also be arranged.
Being surrounded by a protected environment, sustainability is key. Other than the standard no plastic policies, Diamonds Malindi has an organic farm that supplies about 60 percent of their produce. The kitchen waste feeds the chickens and ducks and they have 12 beehives. They have also built a turtle hatchery where you can see them hatching from around May to July. For the local community, they sponsor an orphanage called Mayungu Children’s Centre, a 10-minute drive from the hotel. They have also funded 200 local students to go to higher education with the European Business School of Luxembourg.
Between October and April seaweed occasionally collects along this shoreline.
As this resort is located in a marine nature reserve, the hotel is not permitted to interfere with nature.
Therefore, you may not experience the same pristine beaches as other times of the year.
