A friendly, intimate lodge on the Savute Channel
Set by the side of the unpredictable Savute Channel which winds through this spellbinding area of the Chobe National Park, this beautiful two-storey lodge is all about the location. With just 12 thatched chalets housing a maximum of 24 guests, you’ll enjoy an intimate yet sociable stay in this welcoming lodge.
At the end of a day of game drives and wildlife spotting, sink in to one of the library’s cosy sofas with a good book, enjoy a delicious cocktail at the bar or convene around the boma’s firepit to reminisce on the day’s events. Complete with a shaded viewing deck, al fresco dining area and swimming pool, every inch of this beautiful lodge ensures that you are always in the perfect spot to see the wildlife, including the resident elephants who make their way down to the channel to drink, bathe and play.
Why we love Savute Safari Lodge
-
The permanent waterhole in front of the lodge brings many wildlife encounters which can also be viewed from the photographic hide
-
With its prime location, there is an excellent spot for watching elephants from the deck, the dining area or from your chalet
-
You can take day trips to the Savute Marsh, famed for its lion population
-
In the evening, head to the high level deck where there is a telescope for exploring the night sky
Rooms
There are 11 thatched Safari Chalets and a Luxury Family Chalet which has two en suite bedrooms. Each chalet has a private deck where you can watch wildlife as they congregate around the waterhole.
Facilities
Meals are served in the dining area which is perched overlooking the waterhole so it's not uncommon for your meal to be interrupted for photos as another herd of elephants come to drink. There's a bar although most guests enjoy their evening drink around the fire pit.
What's Included
Twice-daily game activities including 4x4 vehicle safaris around the Savute area and to the Savute Marsh, all meals, locally branded drinks, snacks and soft drinks
Explore the area in open 4x4 vehicles and visit the Savute Marsh where predators gather. You can also visit the Gubatsa Hills where you can see the ancient San rock paintings. At the camp you can visit the photographic hide for an eye-level view the activity at the waterhole. The upper deck also has a telescope for stargazing.
Between November and December, and February and April, huge herds of zebra migrate across Savute, bringing a range of predators with them.
Please note there is no Wi-Fi but there is a laptop with basic internet in the library which guests can use.
