Beautiful camp among the animals.
We saw an incredible amount of wildlife during our stay at Camp Moremi. This is due in large part to our wonderful guide Vee. He always put us in the best situation for viewing the animals. Very knowledgable, we learned a lot from him while on the game drives. The food and drinks at the lodge are great. We had kudu steak one night that was fantastic. The bartender Ashley was already remembering my drink order by day 2. Thank you to Vee, Ashley and the rest of the staff of Camp Moremi for a truly unforgettable experience.
Great camp in the Delta
Totally renewed a few years ago, Camp Moremi was one of our highlights of our trip. Pros: - Great food selection with local game meat (Kudu, Springbok etc.) from time to time - Great service and attitude of staff - rooms and public areas we'll maintained - Daily specials like high tea out in the game reserve or outside dining in garden - Great guides like Baba who are not only professional but show great respect for the animals and nature - safari vehicles are very new with easy access e.g. for elderly guests - camp management friendly and supportive Cons: On an overall basis all lodges and camps in the Okavango delta are very expensive and not really value-for-money when compared to other international safari destinations like Kenya, South Africa, Namibia etc. With that in mind: If you decide to spend that amount of money to see the delta Camp Moremi is certainly highly recommended, especially when compared to other camps in the region.
Fall in love with Botswana!
Ah Moremi… it was hard to leave our previous camp on the delta, thinking how could this camp possibly be as incredible?? Well just our short drive in from the airstrip, we were up close and personal with wildlife, driving right by a huge male elephant, giraffe, waterbuck. We knew we were in for another jaw-dropping experience. The camp was beautiful and our tent/room was luxurious and cozy. The first afternoon during siesta we had several elephants and their babies right out back! We also had Buffalo, baboons, and Warthogs behind our tent during our stay. Writing in our journals, reading or napping to the sounds of nature just outside was truly special. The staff here were enthusiastic and quite memorable! We were there during Botswana Independence Day and there decorations and singing and dancing, all the staff joined in. Chef Ida and crew really delighted us with the delicious variety of dishes each day. And you can’t write a review without a shout out to Ashely the bartender! He remembers your drink preferences and cracks hilarious jokes when reviewing his wines for the evening. And he introduced us to Amarula, a delicious local liquor that tastes similar to Baileys. Pula Ashley! And then there was Vee, my FAVORITE guide of the three camps we stayed at. Knowledgeable, friendly, funny, attentive - Vee alone made Moremi an incredible experience. We even got several private game drives with him, which was special. We saw and learned SO much! He stopped the vehicle as a herd of elephants with babies walked right by us, drove through herds of Buffalo and my faves, the zebra! We saw hippos, crocs, warthogs, A LEOPARD with its kill. Just incredible! We had sundowners at some incredible watering holes, watching the sun set and listening to the hippos. Needless to say, Moremi will forever hold a place in my heart. Thank you Vee and the rest of the wonderful staff for all the great memories! ❤️
Where water & forest meet
Very comfortable accommodation surrounded by beautiful trees. Stunning scenery with excellent game viewing. Staff always keen to help make our stay memorable. Excellent guiding from, in our case, Vee Polaano, who shared his deep knowledge of the area and responded to our interest in birding with real enthusiasm and an eagle eye!! A great place to stay in Moremi.
Our party of 3 stayed at Camp Moremi in September 2021 and we had an amazing time! The promo photos on Desert & Delta are not exaggerations, the rooms are really that beautiful! Camp/Rooms: The camp is gorgeous and set in the bush in the delta. The rooms are spacious, clean and updated. My favorite aspect was the fact the “walls” were mesh and the outdoors was able to come into the room. We heard nature all the time! It was amazing. We woke to the sounds of birds singing and baboons howling. I left the curtains up all night (don’t worry, each room is surrounded by bush and there is a high level of privacy). The shower also faces the outside, nothing like showering while seeing Oscar, the resident hippo, cruising along. The camp is connected by a series of boardwalks. The pool has a great location, infinity type looking out onto the delta. The times we used it, we were the only people there. The fireplace is were we spent time enjoying drinks, before and after dinner. I loved the fireplace and sitting back, admiring the big sky, full of stars. Nothing beats an African starry night. Due to the location in nature, guests are escorted by staff back to their rooms. I never felt unsafe. The laundry is included, which is a huge benefit. The clothes are left in a basket and returned later that day, clean and pressed. Game Viewing: We saw tons of game here. Aaron was our guide and he was fantastic. Aaron was great at locating lion tracks and we were the first group to stumble on a group of 4 sub adult male lions in the brush. Aaron took us to Paradise Pools, Dead Tree Island and other locations for amazing sundowners. Food: The food here was amazing. The vegetables were delicious. I am a vegetarian and the staff made me a special vegetarian meal at each dinner. The soups here were delicious. There was a white and milk chocolate mousse one night that was absolutely delicious. The beer and wine selections were great. COVID: All staff wore masks and guests wore masks in communal areas. I felt very safe and the hotel was taking COVID precautions very seriously. Overall: We had an amazing time and would absolutely recommend this place. I saw the older photos of the camp prior to the remodel and this camp is completely different. I’ve stayed at other camps and this camp (along with Camp Okavango) were the two most beautiful camps/hotels I have stayed at. I loved how connected with the natural surroundings this camp was.
