Another great stay
This is our fifth year of staying at this hotel and again we had a great time. The hotel is ideally situated on beautiful Rockley Beach. Yes as others have mentioned the bathrooms need refurbishing but our room was clean with an abundance of hot water. The maids every day kept it so and provided plenty of clean towels. The food in the restaurants all good specially the Accra deck and Pacifica. The majority of staff friendly and helpful especially Deborah at breakfast and the beach towel ladies. Check in was easy and quick. The only downside was that I was surprised at the amount of bottled water they give away given the environmental issues. Reinstating water dispensers on the bars would be a better idea.
Worst service ever
Stayed one night 31/1/2020 , waited until 7:30pm to get our room. Return again on the 15/2/2020 5pm and still waiting for a room along with 15 other guests!!! Disgraceful The staff don’t seem to have any sense of urgency. I will never return
Visit to Barbados
The Accra Beach Hotel was our home for 10 day, Jan 29 to Feb 8 2020. The hotel staff were friendly, helpful, and pleasant. They made our stay enjoyable. The pools looked inviting but we spent our time on the sand and in the Caribbean Sea. The beach attendants were great. The hotel lobby and restaurants were great and the room (236) was OK. With a little TLC the room could have been great to. Someone needs to go through each room and fix the little things; the closet door that would get stuck, the bathroom fan that didn't work, the sliding doors to the balcony that would also get stuck, etc. Housekeeping did a great job cleaning the room on a daily basis.
All reviews are correct.
Just returned from 14 days in Accra Beach Hotel. Before visiting I had read many very mixed reviews from 1-5 ratings. Having experienced it I can confirm that all reviews - good and bad - are correct and probably depends on how long your experience is. On the positive side as many have mentioned is the location - right on beach, short walk to Tiki Bar one way and a 1.5km boardwalk the other way. Slightly further afield but within a few minutes by bus or ZR (which we loved) is Bridgetown and also the restaurants of St Lawrence Gap. We found the bedroom, and indeed the whole hotel, a bit dated and in need of a refurb, however the room was clean and spacious with good sized balcony. We were B&B and the breakfast was good and plentiful. We found breakfast staff to be warm and friendly unlike the bar or reception staff who we found slow and surly. There were many small matters which should and could be attended to which would really make a big difference to guests. In no particular order matters that need improving are - better communication within reception area. There is no information board and entertainment was inconsistent, events didn't happen as per book in bedroom, seemed to cancel and/or hold elsewhere in hotel without notice. Apparently a Managers Cocktail evening but neither reception nor rep told us. - No Ice buckets on any floor. Apparently all broken for several years. - All pool sunbeds 'reserved' from 06.30 and very few occupied until much later. Thankfully plenty available on beach. - Many sunbeds need replacing - seriously saggy & uncomfortable. - Computer tablet at guest services showed excursions & activities but only showed availability for 2019! - Bar staff and service was very slow. These matters whilst frustrating did not spoil our holiday, we just worked around them. We used the beach sunbeds and looked for better sprung ones. We booked our own tours. Thoroughly recommend Ted's Tour (Island Tour) and Bolador Catamaran Cruise with swimming with turtles and snorkeling). We didn't use the hotel bars, we bought beers at supermarket across the road and sat on balcony or went along to Tiki Bar. It was our 1st time in Barbados and would certainly return and if the faults at Accra can be remedied, would stay there again as location was ideal.
Stayed 3 nights at the Accra hotel after a weeks cruise the hotel and food was lovely staff was lovely and bonus was hotel was right on the beach My partner was a bit dubious about going on the cruise but we had a brilliant time He loved Barbados the cruise was also excellent which was the Marella it’s the only holiday that my partner said he would love to do again
