Really top hotel, our room, the food & the staff all 10 out of 10. It was only a 4 night Staycation but very enjoyable & on a lovely beach. We will definitely be coming back very soon. The staff were soon friendly & helpful.
Overpriced, very limited food and no entertainment.
Travelling during Covid was a risk we were willing to take to go to Barbados as it was for a milestone family birthday. We selected the Sea Breeze as it seemed family friendly, excellent food and on a beautiful beach. I will break down our experience with the pros and cons, some of which may have been linked to Covid but it wasn’t reflected at all in the price. So just be very careful going here if you are planning on doing so with Covid still around. We had a very unfortunate experience which was no fault initially of the hotels. We were pulled off of the beach on day 2 by the health authorities as someone on our flight to Barbados had tested positive for Covid and as a result we had to quarantine in our room till further notice. Very unlucky and again this was not the hotels decision. We complied with the authorities however the hotel completely changed their approach to us. They were terrified. Many managerial staff refused to speak with us at a social distance and would only communicate via phone. The food delivered to our room was taking hours, even with 3 young children under 6 and what was served was of very poor standard. Stone cold, burnt, plastic cutlery and cardboard boxes instead of plates. It wasn’t until we started to complain and create a fuss that they upped their standards. I mean surely the hotel should have been prepared for this sort of thing? Instead we were made to feel like lepers. Leon was the only managerial staff willing to talk to us like humans and actually up the standard of food, give us clean linen and confide with our rubbish situation. Festering in our rooms for 3 days we were finally tested and of course tested negative. We obviously were thrilled to be able to leave our rooms and finish the last 5 days of our holiday. It seemed like the entire hotel was aware and we were the talk of the hotel. Again the situation was brought on from Covid and the strict measures in Barbados which is a good thing. But the way we were treated was initially very poor. A breakdown of our experience at the Sea Breeze. Staff - a mixed bag. Some went above and beyond and seemed to really want to help us - Leon was by far the best. They were mostly friendly until we were quarantined. Many didn’t want to come near us or talk to us despite our negative tests and we encountered some very rude staff. Covid safe - lots of hand sanitizer, wearing of masks is required everywhere except round the pool or on the beach. Be prepared to be pulled up if you nip to the loo or get a drink.. masks are required. Again good on Barbados as it is safe, but will hinder your holiday if you are trying to escape it. There is no escape! Food - for an all inclusive, very limited. If you have stayed at a Royalton you will be incredibly disappointed or even a lower standard Riu. Most evenings you only have one restaurant open as the others are closed. Not sure if this again is an impact of Covid and not many guests, but at least give some more choices than just of 3-4 mains? You’re paying premium prices yet receiving a very disappointing and repetitive selection of food. Although it wasn’t horrible, it was good most of the time, just one vegetarian option and 3 meat choices most nights. Not a high standard all inclusive by any means. Beach - beautiful. Some stormy days meant the dreaded sargassum (seaweed) was making a come back but staff were good at keeping it at bay. The best beaches are definately on the west coast as the waves here can be bigger and not suitable for young children. Gorgeous sunrises but no sunsets as it is located away from the hotel. Location - on its own. A 15-20 minute walk to a supermarket but is no way 15 minute walk from Oistins as we were informed. A 10 minute taxi ride most definitely. You will need a taxi to get to most places like Carlisle bay or shops/restaurants. So once you’re here, you’re here. Temperature checks on all when entering the hotel too. Cleanliness - around the hotel very good. Public loos clean, restaurants clean and beaches/pools etc. However, room cleaned ONCE in 10 days?! I understand as during our quarantine we were in isolation, but once negative, just once. We changed our own bed linen once and calling all the time asking for clean towels, using our own antibacterial wipes to clean the toilet and asking for a broom to sweep the place out! We were promised every 3 days, but no just once. Again not a high standard for what we paid. Arranged a special private dinner - Ria was with us and was an incredible host. This was a highlight of the trip as it was my bro in laws birthday. Nice decoration and balloons, this was a special touch and why I wasn’t going to give lower than 3/5 stars. Overall we understand that with Covid it did impact on us. Yet the hotel appeared not prepared and terrified. It’s like they were pleased to have us yet they weren’t as we could have had Covid, that was the vibe we got. I personally wouldn’t come back to this hotel Covid or not. A somewhat disappointing experience.
Your stay, your way...Staycation at Seabreeze Beach House
We thoroughly enjoyed our 5 night staycation at the wonderful Seabreeze Beach House. Being unable to travel internationally due to the pandemic, we were looking around for another staycation location as our usual haunt is being used as a quarantine facility. Here’s why I’m glad we chose Seabreeze! First, the beach! The beach at this facility is just simply beautiful and breathtaking...and yes, I’m a Bajan, so I know our beaches. We literally spent hours in the water. The inclusion of the hammocks and trampoline were a nice touch. Additionally, the beach staff made our time there memorable. My son quickly formed an “alliance” with Luke who was extremely accommodating and delivered par excellence service - Luke, you’re a star! Thanks to Kenny for also taking us out sailing and O’Neal for his encouragement and professionalism. The offer of drinks and ice-cream while lounging on the beach are also sweet gestures. Second - the food! The food was consistently delicious and varied. The Sunday night barbecue dinner in the Mahogany Lounge really stands out - it was finger-licking. Breakfast in the Cerulean is recommended. Drinks were always plentiful. Our one complaint was the wait time for meals - although we noticed an improvement in delivery time later on in our stay. We understand that as a result of the pandemic, the switch from buffet meals to completely a la Carte has resulted in a revamp of how things are done and staff having to adapt. Hopefully you’ll get this mastered soon. Third - the room! We booked a junior suite in the block above the Mahogany restaurant. Lovely does not appropriately describe the view. The room was adequate for us (we were hardly there anyway). One complaint - having to make calls to housekeeping for toilet paper and to get the trash removed from our room. We understand the 3 night policy but someone needs to check on these things. Fourth - the staff! Nice, pleasant, warm, welcoming, engaging...at least 85 - 90% of the staff really left a good impression. Ria Austin, Sharon, Francine, Marcia, Maria, Jalisa, Raquel, Rodney (all restaurant staff), whose pleasure it was to ensure all our requests were met (“my pleasure” - the standard response to any request). Marco (Polo) at front desk; Shawn from guest services; the lady from housekeeping who, while having a conversation with us in the elevator, acted on her promise to have fresh towels delivered to our room (so sorry I didn’t get her name)....and all the other staff who enquired if there was anything we wanted while there - a big THANK you! Fifth - COVID protocols in place. At no point in time did I feel that the sacrifices we as a nation made to get this pandemic under control here, were compromised. Temperatures were taken, hand sanitizer stations are strategically placed throughout the property, social distancing was practiced, masks are worn at all times by staff and are worn by guests when in public areas, (obviously not when seated in the restaurants or on the beach). Will we be back - definitely....please have a staycation package again next summer - please! By the way, I’ve recommended so many friends, I think I need a promo code😂 Thanks for the memories!
Another fantastic visit to the Sea Breeze but slightly different
We a have visited the Sea Breeze many time over the last 15 years. This was a little different because of new protocols in place because of Covid. But none less enjoyable. Before leaving we had to take a Covid Test within 3 days of flying. On arrival things took a just a little longer to process us through immigration and the Ministry of Health. We were given all information what to do if we develop symptoms and a form for us to record our morning and afternoon temperature checks. Our friends were contacted bu the Ministry for Health and had to Whats App them over to them. On arrival at the Hotel it was quite apparent they have done everything possible to reduce contact points. Check in was contact less we had a guided tour and taken to our rooms. We felt very safe at the Sea Breeze. All staff wear masks all the time inside and out, we were required to wear masks when transiting around the property and when visiting bars etc. Everybody seemed to comply and it was no problem just putting a mask on for the few minutes at a time that we had to. Lots of sanitiser around the place and at the entrance to all restaurants. They have a great little app that allows you to see the menus for all the restaurants on your phone. The beach at the Sea Breeze is amazing and is what makes us come back year after year. Kenny and Oneal the water sports guys are first class with nothing too much trouble. We did lots of sailing, kayaking, paddle boarding and swimming in the beautiful ocean. There are also some great new hammocks and big floating trampoline in the sea there. The food and drinks are always very good at the Sea Breeze and this time was no different. Every meal was fantastic. We were served drinks on the Beach all day. I really cant recommend this Hotel highly enough, with what the Barbados Government and the hotel have put in place to keep Covid down. I think this makes Barbados one of the safest places in the world to holiday at the moment.
We recently enjoyed a wonderful staycation at this fantastic hotel. Having had a good few staycations here before, we had been really looking forward to our holiday because all our previous visits were before the refurbishments a couple years ago. From the moment we arrived until the time we left we had a great time. The staff were friendly and helpful. I cannot name the staff who stood out because I would run out of room in this review, because so many people made our stay memorable. We are a family of 4, my husband and I and our 12 yr old twin. My friend and her 13 yr old daughter also came on staycation for their first visit at sea breeze. There were plenty of things to do. Our children thoroughly enjoyed the kids club/adolescent room. I really enjoyed the connect 4, a great addition from our last visit. I wasn't so very good at beach jenga though. The aqua aerobics in the lap pool was something I looked forward to, which happened nearly every day. I made use of the gym early in the morning which made me feel less guilty for consuming all the fab cocktails i drank. The food was great. Varied in choice. The only slight downside is the wait, as food took quite a long time in coming. However when the food came it was of good quality and worth the wait, nothing was too much trouble as I often swapped out items on the menu eg potatoes instead of the rice and it was never an issue. The watersports team were very very helpful. We made good use of the kayaks, we went on the hobie cat, we all went in the trampoline in the sea and I enjoyed lying on the water hammock. As for our room what can I say except excellent we were in the mahogany block which is the new rooms and they are soooo lovely. They even had a lovely arrangement of balloons on the beds for our twins birthday which was a lovely touch. The welcome back sign was also appreciated and something we will keep. For Anybody who is looking for a great place to stay with plenty of things to do I can highly recommend sea breeze. We look forward to returning, hopefully in the not so distant future.
