This relaxed hike takes you through Lagen’s thick, wildlife-rich forests to an isolated beach. A local guide will greet you at 8am for the walk, which begins with a short, steep ascent and then quickly levels out. Lagen is known as El Nido’s top birdwatching spot, so if you’re lucky you’ll get to see rare species like stork-billed kingfishers and Palawan hornbills while you enjoy a gentle morning workout.
Guests say the highlight of this trek is the bird watching and being at one with nature. I’m always amazed at how tall the trees stretch and how huge their trunks are. I make sure to look up and take it all in, to appreciate the forest sounds and smells and meditate for a moment. The walk lasts around two hours, so there’s plenty of time to stop while your guide points out different plants and birds.
The trail ends at a secluded beach on the other side of Lagen Island, where there’s a boat waiting to take you back to the resort. There will be plenty of time to relax first though on the soft sand. You can take a dip in the ocean to cool off or do some snorkelling to discover the colourful marine life Bacuit Bay is famous for.
Your journey will start with one of our UK team – someone like Suzanne, who's travelled extensively in The Philippines. They’ll shape your ideas into the trip of a lifetime. But they won't do it alone. They'll draw on the expertise of our contacts on the ground, connecting you to the people who'll make your holiday one you'll always remember – the free diver who can take you swimming with turtles, the guides who can take you to secret lagoons and hidden beaches, and the locals who can school you in the art of nipa weaving.
