The Beijing craft beer crawl

Craft beer has taken the world by storm and China is no exception but for me this tour is so much more than beer tasting. As we navigate the winding streets full of ancient architecture we soon discover the layers of different subcultures in the city, which visitors don’t usually consider.

The long history of Beijing’s people spreads out to its social venues and it’s utterly fascinating to observe how local residents of the hutong mingle with gentrification. How the hip, young Chinese socialise with expats and how the creative industries come together.

Whether you’re a craft beer enthusiast or don’t know your hops from your malt, as we move deeper through the second ring road of Beijing, the fun really starts. Our local guides know all the best spots from cosy pubs with tranquil courtyards and trendy tap houses located inside disused workshops. You’ll find beers spiced with Sichuan peppercorns, ales infused with oolong tea and a fantastic BBQ for when you start to get peckish. Don’t worry, there’s plenty of cocktails too if you don’t like beer.

This is such a surprising and exciting evening of discovery and believe me, this is the best night out you can experience in Beijing for this price!

Plan your holiday withAlfred&

Your journey will start with one of our UK team – someone like Suzanne, who's travelled extensively in China. They’ll shape your ideas into the trip of a lifetime. But they won't do it alone. They'll draw on the expertise of our contacts on the ground, connecting you to the people who'll make your holiday one you'll always remember - the guides who can take you to The Great Wall’s quietest spots, the villagers who can show you how to create your own lucky clay cat and the cooks who can rustle you up breakfast pancakes, Shanghai-style.
