We’re in the heart of the city. Everything you need is within a 15-minute walk away but there are many reasons why you should stay in and not just to relax in one of our 157 beautifully styled rooms. Firstly, we were voted one of the Top 100 bars in India, our signature drink being a Swarna Spice, a sweeter version of a whiskey sour. Our opulent restaurant, The Chinese Room, has a VIP following who make a beeline for one of our four sought-after alfresco gazebos.
People simply die for our kulchas (an Amritsar speciality), delicious flaky flatbreads stuffed with potatoes and spices served in the Grand Trunk eatery. I always tell people to allow for extra kilos in their baggage allowance to compensate for the weight they’ll gain when visiting! There’s a saying that the water in Punjab is superlative compared to anywhere else so our culinary success could be due to that, but I think it’s the passion of the people as well as our hydroponic gardens. Modelled around South-east Asia hotels and their aquaponic sites, our garden produces all sorts of organic ingredients including herbs such as basil, spinach and coriander. This in turn reduces our carbon footprint which is essential to our sustainable ethos.
On the same level, we have a whole floor (indoor and outdoor) dedicated to wellness – gym, steam, sauna, salon, swimming pool as well as a kids’ pool. There are sunbathing decks, a frangipani fringed yoga area and an artificial lawn where we orchestrate private dining. You wouldn’t think this was a city hotel!
