A village market offers insight into the local heritage…
We are proud to say we are part of the Singinawa Conservation Foundation which contributes significantly to the social fabric of the area from education to healthcare. We want to become a part of this extraordinary place and not just people running a business. It’s important for us to connect with the community because as you may know, conservation is in fact primarily about people and less about animals. If we take care of the people they will in turn take care of their environment and that’s why we’re motivated.
One way in which our guests can get involved with the community is by visiting one of the local markets that take place throughout the week. They’re lively and colourful selling everything from spices and vegetables to ceramic pots and traditional jewellery. Most of our guides were born and brought up in the area and can offer deeper insight into the local heritage. We love showcasing skills of the local artisans who will often interact with our guests when they get the chance. Another activity I would recommend is visiting the weekly cattle fair to see hundreds of cattle being sold which is quite a sight if you haven’t experienced something like that before. They’re all memorable events and offer a different perspective to the jungle.
Your journey will start with one of our UK team – someone like Malcolm, who's travelled extensively in India. They’ll shape your ideas into the trip of a lifetime. But they won't do it alone. They'll draw on the expertise of our contacts on the ground, connecting you to the people who'll make your holiday one you'll always remember.
