Tailor-made Lijiang Holidays

Nestled into the north-western corner of the Yunnan province, Lijiang is an exceptional place to explore filled with ancient architecture and cobblestone lanes worn smooth by time. The vast snowy peaks of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain keep watch over the entire valley which is home to an abundance of thriving indigenous cultures, each with their own ancient traditions and stories of how they came to be.

No longer the forgotten kingdom it once was, Lijiang Old Town is now a famous UNESCO World Heritage site. You’ll find plenty of signs in English to help you navigate the streets and Naxi locals traditionally dressed demonstrating their cultural heritage along the quaint streets dotted with streams. Despite its popularity, venture away from the main thoroughfares, get lost in the side streets, and you’ll find local markets and a sense of authenticity in the people living their daily lives.

There’s much more to Lijiang than its star attraction. Sit with someone from the Naxi people and learn some Dongba script, the last actively used pictographic language in the world, explore the smaller villages surrounding Lijiang and meet the warm-hearted communities that give this region its sense of peace and tranquility or hire a bicycle and discover the phenomenal landscapes that encase this special town.

Your journey will start with one of our UK team – someone like Suzanne, who's travelled extensively in China. They’ll shape your ideas into the trip of a lifetime. But they won't do it alone. They'll draw on the expertise of our contacts on the ground, connecting you to the people who'll make your holiday one you'll always remember - the guides who can take you to The Great Wall’s quietest spots, the villagers who can show you how to create your own lucky clay cat and the cooks who can rustle you up breakfast pancakes, Shanghai-style.
