My wife and I ended our safari here. What an amazing way to end our trip especially waking up to hearing lions, which sounded like they were right outside our room. The service is great and the food was delicious. Watching the sunset from a nearby rock overlooking the park was a special and unique experience during our stay here. If you can stay here, please do!
Beneath the stars hides the stunning Lemala Lodge
WOW!!! Absolutely blown away by the most epic experience we had at Lemala Kuria Hills Lodge! This is a luxurious style camp/lodge experience in nature that is unforgettable! Our room was absolutely beautiful, loved the bohemian decor, and the comfortable bed overlooking the jungle with gazelle visiting us in the morning was one of the highlights for us. Staff were extremely professional and abided by Covid-19 regulations, which made us feel safe. I loved the fact Lemala was able to arrange Vegan meals for us! Incredibly friendly staff, we had the pleasure of having several conversations with them. Andrea-Manager was pleasant to speak to during our stay. After we returned from our day safari, we were surprised by Andrea-resort manager, he arranged a sunset over the hills set up for us with drinks. It was truly breathtaking! Lemala provided an excellent experience for us that we are already dreaming of our next visit! Thank you to the epic staff at Lemala! Truly a lifetime experience we had! Asante-sana!
The lodge itself is unpretentious luxury. Stunning views, fabulous food (best steak of my life), and an excellent martini from the bar if that's your thing. The rooms are completely ridiculous, but again not showy, just staggeringly beautiful and outrageous fun. Bath in front of a big window looking on to miles of wilderness, a plunge pool to be a hippo in, whatever you want whenever you want just a phone call away, and every night beautiful surprises for when you get back after supper (thank you Joseph). The bed is heaven, fall asleep looking at lighting through the huge glazed doors and listen to lions walking by. The game is unbelievable. 15 lion, leopard kill, wildebeest migration, and no people around. The only downside to this is the cost of no tourists to the staff. They made the place go from a beautiful, luxurious safari destination, to somewhere truly magical and uplifting. It is extraordinary that such a wonderful collection of people all work in the same place. Nelson runs an excellent, well oiled, operation, and at the same time fosters such a happy, friendly and kind atmosphere. Bosco was our guide, he is a total legend, it was a complete pleasure and privilege to have him show us the beauty of the Serengeti. Damian and Godwil kind and attentive, they all made such an effort to give us such an amazing time, and so clearly enjoyed doing it there is no doubt that they are truly incredibly nice people. It was the happiest and best part of our trip. I have never written a review in my life, I have made an account to do this one, and I doubt I'll ever use it again. I cannot express how amazing this place was and how extremely lovely the people were. It made our trip, we miss it and them and hope to come back. It's the best place you could ever find yourself lucky enough to be. If you're thinking of going anywhere on safari, honeymoon whatever, just go here, it is beyond fantastic.
I traveled solo to Kuria Hills in September 2020, during COVID, a challenging time to travel but such a special experience to be here when the Serengeti was uncrowded, to have a vehicle to myself. The level of comfort of this place is unimaginable given its isolation, and the service just lovely—the bartender and servers were so attentive. My guide, Bosco, and I really logged the hours in the bush, through clear days and rainy, clutching our hot water bottles when it was chilly (the BEST). He was always upbeat and changed a tire in under 15 minutes when we got a flat, and taught me so much in the four days I spent at Kuria Hills. I saw leopards, a wildebeest crossing and more lions than I could count. I would return in a heartbeat and hope I can drag some friends with me next time. I cried when I left and I’m sure I’ll cry when I return!
A Gem in Paradise
Visiting the Northern Serengeti the first weekend in October the one thing we prayed for was that the wildebeest would cross the river so we too could have a David Attenborough moment. And cross they did. In their thousands. There are no words to describe that experience. What we also discovered is this GEM on a hill in the middle of nowhere. An oasis of luxury in the wilderness. The lodge is excellent at every level. Design and layout, excellent. The warmth of the welcome, unbeatable. The service, attentive but never intrusive. The food, outstanding. The game guide, knowledgeable, attentive and committed to ensuring we got to see and experience everything we wanted. We only stayed one night and we should have stayed three. This place is usually booked years in advance so thank your Corona for allowing us to experience this. Lemala team - asanteni sana.
